The Iron Man movie is a story about a man receiving a reality check, the delusion shattering, and the choice to make a positive change in the world

I could not stand superhero movies when I was younger because I simply didn’t believe people like them could exist, so they were pointless. As an adult, I see it in a new light. The point is not perfection. The point is choice.

In my eyes Tony Stark was trying to live up to his father's Legacy with a persona of cleverness,  sarcasm, and nonchalance. I think this was all  a part of the  act. In reality I think he was very lonely very sad and used his money like a drug to make himself feel better. He did not accept the  award because he didn't think he deserved any awards. he probably felt like he was living in his father's shadow and he had never really seen the light until he made the suit and His companion helped him Escape. Now he had a purpose, first to survive and after the struggle and change, he knew it was time grow his character and to keep his promise to his Fallen companion in a cave in the middle of nowhere, and to make his life count. So he did. He became Iron Man.

This is why I don't understand people who compare Captain Marvel with Iron Man and with the claim that both were arrogant and that it's wrong to dislike Captain Marvel when we like Tony. They never understand that Tony's arrogance was a mask and deep inside he was a broken man who really had nothing and the movie punishes him for his cockiness whereas Captain Marvel's arrogance is presented as a strong character trait and the movie rewards her at every level for her bad behavior. This is the difference in writing between Iron Man and Captain Marvel, this is why one is a fan favorite and the other is already forgotten.

This is why the MCU was a lot better when it first started because marvel had to actually take their movies seriously they were willing to paint a whole story now that marvel is brought by Disney and they have essentially a lot of money they realize they do not have to try as hard to be successful because they already is. I'm happy that the MCU is finally making better movies again

And just like that, this franchise was built off the backs of flawed, but complicated protagonists learning to better themselves.

Even nowadays, Marvel has been dipping back into this formula with characters like TVA Loki, Moonknight, the Guardians Of The Galaxy and Simon Williams, focusing on analyzing the core of their identity as they discover new depths to themselves.....to varying levels of success.

Pain has a way of jolting you back into your body. You can run from yourself by numbing out with pleasures like alcohol, drugs, weed, false intimacy, or screens. But when the pain pulls your conscious to your body suddenly you see your real self. Suffering will test how mature you really are. Are a man who endures on the cross with dignity and compassion for those suffering beside you. Or cry like a baby at the smallest pinch.

This is one of the best video essays I’ve seen on YouTube. After seeing this movie at least three times in my life, I really thought I had read into pretty much everything the movie had to show me, and I’ve since settled on a 6/10. I don’t know if my score is going to change, but you have shown me an extra layer of depth that I had never seen in the movie before. You genuinely had me tearing up by the end.
