Despite his injuries, Grant survived and lived until 1984, owning a tobacco shop in San Francisco. He attended Easy Company reunions and became a representative for the 506th PIR in the 101st Airborne Association

I love how when he pulls the gun like he's gunna shoot the guy, nobody objects, just take some steps back so they don't get brain sprayed 😂 everyone in that room was fine with that dude getting whacked

Matt Settle was absolutely brilliant in this role. You absolutely buy into Speirs' ability to be both brilliant and utterly brutal.

@Rob_F8F 1 year ago

Had Grant died, Spiers would have ended him.

@justinmoody6721 1 year ago

Speirs said he actually showed up intending to kill him, but at the last second something told him that they might have the wrong guy and to let the MP's find out for sure instead.

@gordonaverageguy9556 8 months ago

Has to be the only person Spiers ever pointed a weapon at, to survive the encounter.

@dannagy546 1 year ago

You have to understand, Speirs wasn't scared of shooting him, he was fighting the urge. Had Grant died, that would have been different. Had the war not been essentially over, that would have been different.

The German surgeon probably not aware he saved 2 lives that night. Sgt. Grant's and the soldier that shot him. Had Grant not survived the shooter probably would not have either.

The fact that the men were backing up when spiers was ready to shoot him, shows you that they would have had no problem with it at all

Private Floyd W. Craver, he killed multiple people, was on heroine and drunk. Was sentenced to life in prison, and somehow managed to get a release. He got married, had a kid. Then at 65 got hit by a bus. Karma was late but got there eventually.

none of those people would have said a word , if spiers killed him .... just another day :o ....

That was a real "You're not worth the powder" moment.

There is a reason why Spiers is a legend in the 101st. ❤

@dipsiylalapo 1 year ago

one of the best spiers moment

@gilbertoestrada1488 1 year ago

Speirs must be one of the most tough son of a gun that ever exist. not just fr survive the whole war, but to have the selfcontrol of not go for the urge of revenge.

@safespacebear 6 months ago

Every man in that room would have stood by Spier's choice and every man in that room seemed unsettled by his intensity. It's a great scene

Spiers was savage

@BenjaminHaney-y4i 9 months ago (edited)

Spiers looked back on this incident in an interesting manner. He acted somewhat surprised at himself for NOT keeling this man. He basically said that he must have been less than 100% sure of this mans guilt because he fully would have keeled him. Saying that summary execution never bothered him.

After Easy turn him over to the MP's and found out what he did (all that he did is not disclosed here but in the book) the MP's continues to beat the snot out him also.
