What if the fraud was the friends we made along the way?... Wait...

I love how the context of the father's smile is fine now. Before he looked like a creep. Now he just looks like....a dad.

From an artistic perspective this is actually a really interesting concept. I'm gonna be thinking about this one for a while.

Shoutout to Nightmare Movies for always recommending films that I’ve never heard of before. Idk how you find all these man, but I appreciate it!

This reminds me of old youtube edits where people would make "movie trailers" out of youtube videos, and the same clips would be presented in a variety of genres with just some tone and audio changes.

"THERE IS NO FRIDGE! I LIED!"

This is such a good warning to everyone about the fake nature of internet

The biggest fraud the director committed was directing that damn live action Lilo & Stitch!

I like how he makes a lot of his videos deeper than they need to be. Adding a lesson or a real life implication adds weight to the videos and makes me remember them more

I thought it was going to be an ARG type channel like "Hi Walter It's me Patrick"

This is even creepier.

I assumed the whole time that, of course these people were paid actors, it's a film, so I was SO CONFUSED when the supposed 'twist' was revealed... (yes I know it's a type of "found footage", but that's usually just a normal horror genre in and of itself)

the level of meta-ness feels like blair witch. i never thought i would be able to experience that

Honestly this is a masterclass in editing

The director of this movie just made Disney $1 billion with his Lilo and Stitch remake. He also is responsible for Marcel the Shell with Shoes On which is one of the most adorable movies ever made by anyone so yeah, he’s the real deal. Never knew he did this tho. O_O

I love how through out, with the title of the video, the title of the movie, it all telling you blatantly,  were going to lie to you. But you never expect it, because its not the usual lie, directors and producers always want you to see something in their movies they want to narrate something,  and in as much as you go in with the knowledge thats its not true, you involve yourself and delude yourself into believing its real, and you enjoy that experience, to be told blatantly that what youve been led to believe is false, is... odd, you nevere believed it was real im the first place but to be betrayed like that is unnerving,

As much as this is a cautionary tale to us the viewers to never believe what we see i can also imagine what it must have felt like for the family to see their lives twisted into this false narrative, a narrative they know isnt true but they see presented as the truth.

How jarring would it be for anybody to suddenly wake up and see themselves convicted for something theyre sure they didnt do but seeing the evidence be produced by their own hands,

this was absolutely fascinating. what a masterclass in the power of manipulative storytelling, honestly. we must question everything we are presented with!! props to the director and hope the family are ok after the attention they mustve gotten lol

Hearing the Skype booting up noise at 08:02 hit me with a wave of nostalgia.

I find it funny that the people at the Hot Docs festival got into an argument with the director over the whole thing. Like, him making the fake movie and presenting it as a legit one, was the entire point.

Bro just casually ends on a note of existential doom like a boss.

2:01 Borders… that really brings me back.
Edit: I think this is the first time a creator has loved my comment!  Nice!
