“He’s satan but he brings the drama” YESSS I’m not an apologist what so ever but he makes everything so messy I love it when he’s on screen 😂

“Cautionary tale about being a pick me” I AM SCREAMINGGGG😂

Knowing that Anne Rice lost a little girl when she was still very young makes her character Claudia make more sense to me. She created a child who was immortal for Louis and Lestat, and their failures as a parent cost them their child. Claudia definitely deserved much better. Great video!

no cause i cried so much for claudia she just wanted to be a boo’d up lesbian vampire BUT THESE MEN RUINED IT

“it’s a story about a black man who’s abusive relationships cost him his relationship with his family” SAY IT LOUDERRRRR

“Finding out Armand ain’t ish does not change the fact that Lestat ain’t ish either!” A word 👏🏽 🙏🏽

It's nice to see someone else as indignated by claudia's story. 90% of the reactions i've watched on here were like "aw how sad...anyways"

Wat always sent me was the mum constantly shaming Louis for his business but being perfectly comfortable with reaping the benefits of it😭
She made me sick lol

What I find interesting is that Lestats abuse is very obvious, and very much how real human abusers are. But Armand's is harder to pick up on because it's mental as in literally messing with his mind, taking his memories. And for me personally that's a lot more scary and sickening

I think you are SPOT ON about Armand, actually. He chose the coven over a dude he just met, lost everything, lied to save his own skin and clung to Louis developing real feelings for him over time. He selfishly wanted love and purpose and took it the only place he thought he could get it, even if it meant living a lie. I don't like him but it made sense.

calling Santiago CVS Lestat is exactly what I needed today.

Louis was a Pick Me in life as well as undeath.  His family was toxic as all hell BEFORE he became vampire as well.

The moment you started addressing Louis directly and he replied with muffled dumb dude jibberish, is the moment this went from amazing YouTube video to high art. Well done!!!

Claudia is the most tragic of them all. People tend to attribute her death as only a loss to Louis, when the whole point is HER death. Walking it back to the beginning, she was turned into a vampire without consent, because of something Louis did. It is not his fault that a racist decided to burn shit down but it was BECAUSE of him. She's reborn into another world of violence and dies AGAIN because of something Louis did. Louis loves her, but not enough to save her or put her first. The first and real last time he does that, isn't turning her, but fighting for her against Lestat and getting beat for it. That's the last time he was truly her father.

I think sparing Lestat made her so desperate for other vampires to exist because she felt so betrayed she had to get away from Louis. But then she meets them and realizes AGAIN that they will never accept her the way she wants. The only one she's ever found absolute love with dies at her side. 'Claudia IS my coven'. Madeline knew she was going to die and chose dying for and with Claudia. Their end feels so sad to me because it feels almost like a punishment. For wanting more, for finding it. For being happy. Nobody is allowed to be happy. Lestat forced Louis into being his and then was angry at him for not jumping for joy at being spared. While I love Lestat as a character, as a person, he's a monster. He had a chance to change and didn't. I don't think he actually CAN.

Ugh. Lovely video, I now have to go scope out your others!!! This show has me in shreds (ALSO I AGREE THAT LESTAT KILLED PAUL. I REFUSE TO HEAR OTHERWISE)

It just makes it more heartbreaking, but Claudia and Madeline actually do live out there lesbian cottage core fantasy for a bit. They say something about growing flowers on the graves of their victims at their French country-side house. But zero-thoughts, head empty Louis invites them back to the city for a family dinner, at Armands suggestion of course cause thats when they get kidnapped by the coven.

They got out! For slightly more than .5 seconds, they were happy and free. And then they were killed.

As soon as Claudia made that speech about haunting errybody in that theater, ugh, I immediately needed to see that become a spin off. Shit would be 🔥☄️🔥

Not u calling Santiago "Temu Lestat"

Girl, listen, as someone who read Interview With The Vampire over 20 years ago, has read most of the books in the Vampire Chronicles and loves Lestat, you are absolutely having the right reaction to this show. A lot of these Lestat apologist have been in this fandom for 30 or even 40 and they've forgotten that Lestat just is the villain in Interview With The Vampire.

He's fine, he's entertaining and he's the villain.  Now people who are approaching the show from the perspective of having read the vampire chronicles were watching for certain things, and they had meaning for us, but would carry not carry any weight for anyone not watching with those books in mind. Your reaction is more or less the same reaction that most people had to IWTV the after reading the book or seeing the 1994 movie for first time. It's later books in the chronicles where we see a different perspective on Lestat as start getting books from his and other character POVs.

I'd love to see your reactions when season 3 starts and will be looking for your videos in the future. Love the look btw.

edit>> Justice for Claudia, forreal.

I agree - I think the trial added some context to the fight but it doesn’t excuse what Lestat did. Even though the drop wouldn’t kill Louis, Lestat knew that it would hurt him physically. And even worse than that, I see that drop as a complete violation of the implicit trust and basic respect between the two of them. Anyone who claims that Lestat’s actions were justified because of Louis’ threats needs to get right.

What’s wild to me is the subtext ain’t even subtext, they are VERY intentional about showing us exactly who Lestat (and Armand)  is. Even Daniel Molloy straight up telling Louis 🗣️YOU ARE A VICTIM 🗣️ I honestly love the show as a vehicle for a story about cycles of abuse/neglect and how an inability to do the necessary inner work leads you to harm even the people you claim to love, i.e Lestat abusing Louis out of his own fear of loneliness or Louis neglecting his role as Claudia’s parent due to his desperate need for external love and validation, even when the cost is his or his child’s wellbeing
