9:32 you can see the reddish colours which makes this a Kestrel.

Great stuff Nigel especially you filming the Goshawk. Lots of people don’t actually realise the female Goshawk are slightly larger in length than the female Buzzard

Wow. I have had many birding moments like that Goshawk. I felt your excitement, lovely to see such passion.

Good morning 🌅 to both of you from HONG KONG 🇭🇰 SAR. The LONG TAILED TIT is a popular bird in northern Japan 🇯🇵. Many professional bird watchers flock to various shrubbery areas as well as forested parks in search for this LONG TAILED TIT.
As for birds of prey, professional bird watchers in northern Japan 🇯🇵 are also very enthusiastic about the STELLAR’S SEA EAGLE, the MOUNTAIN HAWK-EAGLE, and the JAPANESE GOLDEN EAGLE.
The BROWN SHRIKE as well as the LONG TAILED SHRIKE are also popular among Japanese bird watchers.
MALLARD DUCKS, CORMORANTS, WHITE WAGTAILS, and COOTS are among many water birds are also favoured by Japanese 🇯🇵 professionals bird watchers.

All your hard work is paying off. Great video. And amazing to see goshawks displaying. We were lucky to see three last weekend in Surrey. Breathtaking birds.

Congratulations on the Great Grey Shrike and Woodlark on Cannock Chase, and your query raptor at Aqualate Reservoir I'm sure is a Kestrel, can't see a Peregrine in it.
I haven't been to Aqualate Reservoir for a year or two but that hide is excellent for Marsh Tit on the feeder too, if they are still around. Also used to be Willow Tit but sadly no longer. One year, at dusk, I had 16 Water Rails cross from left to right directly in front of that hide over twenty minutes, but that was a one-off event. There also used to be a spectacular Starling roost there at dusk in winter, with up to 70,000 birds. Was really spectacular as the resident Sparrowhawks went into them, occasional Merlin and Peregrine too. Had Goshawk once or twice too.
Your Goshawk footage is superb - that female is a beast. Also the Crossbill footage - excellent! Goshawks seem to be doing well in the midlands, frequently now being seen around Belvide Reservoir and at known woodlands nearby. I had 6 birds two years ago.
It's been a great year for me locally, with resident wintering Hawfinches (up to 9 birds) where I live on the NW edge of Wolverhampton off the A41, but only for 5-10 minutes at dawn (around 7am), and sometimes the afternoon. Hope they stay to breed but expect them to depart any time.
Anyway, great video! Really enjoy watching your expeditions.

Male Adder's normally emerge from Hibenacula's a few weeks before the Female's and the Male's look more silver. If you look at the top of their heads. They all have a different variety of patterns to tell them apart.
Adder's need our help as they're endangered as their habitat is fragmented. Would love to find out if anyone knows any reintroduction schemes going.Especially in East Anglia?
