If a character played by Gary Busey is calling you an "extreme psychopath" you know you've got problems 😂

An mp5 isn’t an assault rifle, it’s a sub machine gun Stevie Seagulls.

Okay, no matter what happened with Seagal afterwards, but I don't find anything wrong with his first five or so movies. 1988-1992 was arguably his "Golden Age" (followed by a steep and drawn out decline of the kind that can only be compared to that of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires)

Erika Eleniak is by far the best two things in this movie. Thank you Steven.

Under Siege was written by JF Lawton, who also wrote Pretty Woman.

Andrew Davis knew the proper formula for a good Seagal movie: keep him offscreen as much as possible, and only have him do "action stuff" when he has to be onscreen. Also cast colorful character actors for the supporting roles. He did the same thing for Above The Law, and that one and Under Siege are considered two of Seagal's best movies. Davis did the same thing for the Chuck Norris movie Code Of Silence too, probably Norris' best.

This takes place on the USS Missouri but was mostly shot on the USS Alabama. The Oscars it was nominated for were all in the sound categories; not surprising since the audio and audio effects in this movie are really good. The sound in the scene where the ship drops anchor? * Chef's kiss *

The Mad Magazine parody of Under Siege was pretty good. At the end, the stripper is asked what it's like to kiss Seagal and she said "It was like sticking my face into a bowl of mashed potatoes."

It's all downhill from here, baby!

"It's not a job! It's an adventure!" was a Navy recruitment slogan, probably shoe-horned in since they helped fund the film and provide sets etc. And the head movements as he delivers it....probably his most passionate line delivery ever. XD

Also, how does anyone think this is a Die Hard knockoff? Did they forget the 1 Man Army trope has existed for quite some time because they both only share the same superficial aspects of that, beyond that they're almost completely different.

Tommy Lee Jones reads Ryback’s file, which was in the Captains private cabinet, “Ryback is an ex-SEAL.

The goddamn cook's a SEAL?

Shut up and listen.

"Expert in martial arts...

...explosives, weapons, tactics.

Silver Star. Navy Cross.

Purple Heart with cluster.

Security revoked after Panama.

So he could only rate as a Yeoman...

...or a cook. How little did I know.”

You know who else was a Navy Seal? One Thomas Magnum Private Investigator.

There were so many things that make this movie such a great movie. The cast was definitely great. I think it had the most tasteful nudity of the entire 1990s.  And if you ever go to pearl Harbor you can walk around on that very ship.  If you don't see it for yourself it's impossible to imagine the size of that ship and those guns.

So he was a career SEAL, lost his clearance, and became a Mess Serviceman and is instantly the BEST COOK IN THE NAVY.  Also, he's a little young to be wearing a RVN Cross of Gallantry.  Come on Directors - quit letting Steven choose his own awards and hire a mil tech advisor for a day!

You forgot to highlight the best part of all these type of movies, "The File Pull" I love it when their file gets pulled and it bulls them up, like oh shit who we messing with, ex Navy Seal, Green Beret, weapons expert, hand go hand combat specialist, bomb disposal expert, medal of honour etc etc love it

Most people forget that Erika Eleniak's first apperance was not Baywatch or Playboy. It was a little known SCI FI movie directed by some Spielberg guy and was titled E.T.

Combat Engineers watch The Hurt Locker, Armored watches Fury, Medics watch Hacksaw Ridge, and Navy Cooks watch Under Siege!

Any movie with Dale Dye gets an automatic +5 to its IMDB score, no matter how bad it is. He is just THAT good. God bless you, Mr. Dye.

Awesome film, Seagal in his prime. Gary Busey phlegm in the soup. Lush helicopter explosion. Another Jason Voorhees cameo. Knife to the armpit. Torn-out voice-box. Best cake boobs ever. What’s not to like?

This movie has a pretty cool cast.
We got Tommy Lee Jones & Gary Busey as the 2 main bad guys, O'brien from Star Trek Next Generation & DS9 as another bad guy, Erika Eleniak of Baywatch and Playboy fame and frikin'  Miklo from Blood In , Blood Out! (''Give me some chon chon!!'')

I met Erika Eleniak at WonderCon. I told her my favorite part of the movie was when she came out of the giant cake. She just looked at me with a blank expression. 🙂 I walked away, turned around to look back at her and gave her a thumbs up 👍 and went on my way. 😄

this movie came out in '92 and Busey was dressing in drag.  it was like 20 years ahead of its time.

Love this movie. Gary Busey and Tommy Lee Jones stole the show.
