Mal made more excuses for Paul than he merited, frankly. The unpleasant truth is that Mr McCartney could be a right royal shit-bag. John was too, but at least he was honest about it. The great Derek Taylor, who was less guarded in his language than Mal, knew all about Paul's dark side. His book, As Time Goes By, is an excellent read, if anyone's interested.

This is exactly what happens when you mix friendship with employment. Mal took the friendship personally and Paul handled the situation poorly. Paul has been accused of handling situations poorly at times and I can see why some people who have dealt with him in those situations haven’t appreciated the experience. I don’t socialize with anyone at work but Mal had an unusual job and relationship with them. I don’t blame Mal for being hurt and he was probably much more forgiving than he should have been.

I also thought Mal should have been treated better than he was. He did an awful lot for them, even sacrificing his own family! And the way his life ended the way it did. He must have been heart-broken, but kept it all inside. Really sad & shameful, imo.

I read that none of the BeatIes  ever gave MaI a raise, and he was having a hard time making ends meet on a perpetuaI £38 a week.   That is shameful.

Mal should have hired a literary agent in 1970 and written a tell-all book.  It would have rivaled John's huge Rolling Stone interview, and Mal would have been rich.  Paul was always cruel.  It got overshadowed by John's more obvious cruelty.  Today, Paul is an endless revisionist, making up new history that contradicts the same history he told a few years before.

lost a lot of respect for PMc when I read Mal co-wrote Sgt. Pepper theme and Fixing A Hole. "Is it ok if we don't put your name on the label, it would look strange?" Mal never got credit or a dime. Of course nobody else said anything. Especially Mal. I would LOVE to know who strung his Rickenbacker up right handed. M'jaw dropped watching the DVD: "I don't really know what these knobs do". [they're mutes he's pointing to] Of course he did. Playing to the camera. imo.
