I think it's weird that reviewers call this a small hatchback or a super mini when it has the same footprints as compact SUVs like the Kia Niro

Had a MG4 for the last two and half years a great car. And we are trading it in for an Urban that we are collecting on Saturday. The dealer said he is sold out, even some extra cars he got in. This last week I have started to see some on the roads here in Ireland. Excited.😮

I really liked this car when I test drove it. There were a few minor niggles, like the indicator is one of those weird ones you can't flick on/off, but I could get used to that. However, the one thing that stopped me was the headrest, it is fixed, and so I found it digging into my back, especially when driving over uneven surfaces. If they had an adjustable headrest I would be driving this car now.

We’ve swapped the tyres on ours out for Hankook Ventus S1 evo3’s and it is a night and day difference. Quieter, more comfortable ride, better grip and the same economy.

It's not a supermini. This is a mid-size C segment car, bigger in every dimension than the original MG4.

I think it's a great car for the price and a good entry point for people. I have a new MG myself (S6) and, aside from a couple of gripes, it is a fantastic vehicle.

The one thing I don't understand, though, is the point of trying to point out its British heritage...like it actually makes any difference at all. MG themselves are doing it too...just look at the names and the colours available on the cars (Stafford Gold? Gold isn't the colour I think of when someone mentions Stafford to me).

Everyone knows MG is a Chinese brand (via SAIC) and has been for years, so why try to obfuscate it? It just makes all involved seem a bit silly. It's a good car, so just lean into that and stop all the shallow brand silliness.

I really want MG to get back into doing Estates tbh. A redo of the MG5 as an estate again would be good, they had that market locked down till they gave it up to Skoda

I test drove the MG4 Urban at the Everything Electric show in Twickenham recently and found it to be a very easy drive with lovely comfy seats. The brake pedal was a bit harsh in the test car but with one pedal driving on barely had to use the brake anyway. Unfortunately the test drive route around Twickenham was mostly 20 to 30 mph so could not test the acceleration/power much but most reviews say it drives well around town. MG might be a Chinese brand but frankly I don’t care about that. So many EV’s are Chinese made now, people just need to get used to that!! These cars second hand will be an absolute bargain in a few years time!

With the new skoda epiq, unless you really need much more room in the back seats, this should be cheaper. The epiq starts at 23-24k eur with some offers, and this has a too high price outside the UK.

Not sure about the controls for the lights on the Urban. Some basic functions are hidden in the menu, which is annoying.

I couldn't make out where the charging port was or if it had 1 pedal driving, both crucial for my next EV. However, this probably won't make the list because of the 12" infotainment screen (it's too big), the large dollop between the front seats and the lip to get anything into the boot, the last is very important when you need to heft a mobility scooter.

I very much doubt that full self driving will ever be a thing. I've found that MG Pilot is perfectly adequate and I use it all the time especially on long motorway journeys. I honestly think that you don't need anymore than it gives you, and yes I have owned a Tesla and to be honest MG Pilot is better, no fantom braking at all.

I like the MG Pilot a lot!
You can configure your preferred settings for assistance systems including speed warning and lane keeping (off!), just select your profile when you start your trip from the main menu: done ✅ ❤

I drive a MG ZS EV. The 2 thing that I’m not a fan of are not using the regenerative breaking in cruise control mode and the way the heating/cooling and ventilation work (there’s no ‘sweetspot’ setting, so you need to keep fiddling with it). Are those fixed?

Purchased the long range version a few months back. Best decision we made. Ended up with something much better than we expected - we thought we had downgraded from our large SUV. In fact it ended up feeling more of an upgrade.
