@bluehoundsjazz BLUE HOUNDS JAZZ — LONDON BRITISH JAZZ VOL. 2 🎺🐾
A journey through the smoky clubs, basement sessions and street-corner sounds of London, 1967–1972, where British jazz met the powerful musical influence of the Caribbean.
During the 1960s and early 1970s, London's jazz scene was deeply connected to the city's growing Caribbean communities. Musicians and audiences from Jamaica and other Caribbean islands brought new rhythms, sounds and musical traditions into London's clubs and neighborhoods.
Jazz began to cross paths with ska, rocksteady, reggae, calypso, soul and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, while Hammond organ, horns, bass and drums created a raw, urban sound that belonged unmistakably to London.
This mix is inspired by that meeting point: British jazz, Caribbean grooves, Jamaican influences, Hammond jazz, blues, soul, ska and rough late-night club energy.
No polished ballroom jazz here.
This is London after dark. 🌙🎺
Perfect for cooking, working, studying, eating, relaxing, reading or simply letting the music play in the background.
