Guessing filmed before the Ork and Space Marine articles. Detachments work on the unit/keyword locking as you where hoping for.

As someone who's played since 3rd, a lot of these new rules are looking like things from older editions that are being dusted off and polished up a bit, and I'm loving it

Listening to you guys gets me really excited and hopeful for the new edition after years of not really caring, thank you.

8 min. in, this sounds perfect for non competitive play. Lots of fun, every army, every faction, every detachment…different. I was quite fond of 9th edition Crusade rules, Path to Glory for ALL!

34:30 I can see why Plunging Fire improved AP in 10th; tanks notoriously have thinner top armor, which is why top attack munitions are so ubiquitous now that the technology exists to make them work.

My only worry is purge the foe armies. If they can score for killing as much as a take and hold army can score for bringing objective monkeys and doing actions, that's s problem. Because one players primary mission is also having the side benefit of rapidly tabling the opponent, since they need less action monkeys, and need to do actions less. Killing stuff is just better than not killing stuff when it comes to winning games.

As someone who dipped their toe into competitive at the end of 10th, the biggest issue I saw was people (maybe) conveniently forgetting rules given there is army abilities, detachment abilities, unit abilities AND strategems.
11th is looking to be an absolute competitive mess if you have to know your opponent’s 3 detachments and which applies to what. I worry about the ability to hoodwink your opponent with overly complex layered rules.

On the point of concern about tracking all these upgrades, enhancements, detachment rules etc. Do remember, they said the app is getting a big upgrade. They might have made it so it does display everything a unit has been given when you look at their datasheet now.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the article said over 70 new AND UPDATED detachments. So I'd assume we will get a few new ones but probably all of the detachments that were added in post codex are getting updated and reworked.

30:38 Meta Mike nailed it! Exactly this was revealed in the Faction Focus articles for Space Marines!

Man I was waiting for this from you all!!

As much as I dislike most of the old competitive soup combinations, you gotta admit that a combined arms list of Imperial forces (keyword: when done fluffily) is pretty amazing xD (1000pts of Imperial Guard and 500pts of House Hawkshroud? A host of Sisters with an Inquisitorial warband in tow? A Space Marine demi company with a Custodes emissary?)

What I hope are advantages to taking a more interesting range of weapons. For example all the advice for my army is to build with meltas, however with the emphasis on hit penalties to units in buildings this gives a good reason to mix in more flamers.

I really like how depending on the army or detachment, your primary way of scoring points changes! Pretty cool and flavorful.

Since recording (im guessing) this it has been revealed that some detachments will not have stratagems.

Great stuff chaps!!!

Thank you!
I much prefer some interesting discussion with some thought put in even though its a couple days old then an up to date "man reads Warhammer Community Article"

So hyped for 11th!

@dosed2023 4 months ago

So as a new player to 10th. Absolutely nothing about 11th sounds like an improvement.

I didn't even know they were called soup armies but that was my first argument against the whole points system for detachments, glad to see I was right 🤣

I like the detachment change cause it feels like something like CSM can take deceptors for 1Dp(probably) and have their sneaky mob and legionaries with some 2DP other style support. It feels like having two warbands allied together for the fight and I enjoy that. I might even need to paint some other legions for the 2nd detachment
