Absolutely love you natural coops. Also it is so so nice of you to share your plans and measurements with us. A lot of people would charge for that, it is very kind and so helpful. Thank you!!!

I discovered when hatching eggs that they can’t have a light source while the eggs are in the incubator. The light goes through the shell and it affects their brains and they come out much more aggressive. They shouldn’t have a lightbulb hanging when they are in the brew either. I use seedling heat mats on the ground and some of those carbon Heat plates. Really took care of the aggression problems

So generous of you to share these. Also, what kind of quail are these, please? I will be in a region that has similar temperatures that you have.

how do you keep the ants away from their food? and from their living area?

Love your coops!! I’m wanting to build something similar. Did you anchor the structures to the ground at all? We got hit by hurricane Helene and I’ve been paranoid about wind since then 😬

My mom used to have quails when I was a child, and I remember that we didn't have a feeder, we just spread the feed around for them to have to do something for their food. I've also seen a lot of quail keepers complain about the quails scratching at the food in the feeder, and that is makes a huge mess.
So my question is: Is there some benefit to keeping the food in a feeder? Is it because of rain? Or is there something else I'm missing?

This is wonderful and what I've been looking for. A quick question, what's your climate zone? In other words how cold does it get in winter?

Do you put heat for the birds during winter?
