"Because the youth population is declining, the absolute number of juvenile offenders is gradually decreasing
However, the recidivism rate is increasing. There are more and more offenders with 4 or more repeated crimes. The kids who did it do it again. The more they commit crimes, the severity intensifies.
So the important thing is to get these children out of the path of being a criminal. In fact, I think it's another way to solve the problem of violence. But how can they get out of the cycle of crimes and the life of a perpetrator?
What is clear is that strengthening the punishment is not the only solution."

In juvenile trials, children who receive disposition order No. 10 go to Juvenile Detention Centers. But children with a moderate level of delinquency and have no parents or has difficulty being protected at home due to neglect and abuse usually receive disposition order No. 6.
Sepuma is a Juvenile Protection Facility for boys who have received No. 6 disposition order.
Sepuma is also called a ‘Second Chance Maker’ because it goes beyond the function of a child protection facility and helps broken boys to walk on a new path of life. (Sepuma official website: [https://www.sepuma.or.kr/])
Today's story is about the couple who run Sepuma and the changes that happen among children there.
This video was produced at the request of Sepuma with the support of Brian Impact.
