The "Blank Leaves" is a supernatural tale by R. H. Malden (1879β1951), one of the earliest and most accomplished writers in the tradition of M. R. James.
The story was first published in a Christmas magazine issued under the auspices of Leeds Parish Church. Malden later revised and collected it in his only ghost-story collection, Nine Ghosts, published in 1943 by Edward Arnold & Co., London.
The story combines antiquarian research, mysterious manuscripts, and subtle supernatural terror in a manner that has earned Malden a lasting reputation among lovers of classic ghost fiction.
Narrated by Christopher Halton.
