Hand knit, top down, round yoke sweaters are really popular but impossible to knit on a knitting machine. So I set out to draft a bottom up round yoke sweater for the knitting machine. It took me 4 prototypes and two major sweater surgeries but I figured it out.

I love that you have the capability to imagine, draw out, define parameters, and then input that data into code so that it outputs a pattern to make your imaginings. I’m not a math person (math is the bane of my existence) but I love data and putting that data to good use is fascinating. Please! Do not stop your explanations. I may not get everything now, but I will eventually.

Wanting to attempt this now. Going to try it on a Singer chunky machine. In a mens large size. My brain computes things weirdly, so I get the way you are calculating this, Machine knitting is far more than just, knitting. I love the math of it.

Irene Woods did a course on designing a machine knit yoke sweater. We do the yoke, bottom up, as you do, and she explains the proportions of the tiers, which you figured out, eventually. The advantage of doing just the yoke is that it's easier to handle. When you rehang the yoke bottom, you do the short rows and raglan decreases before continuing to the bottom.

I love hearing your thought process, even though I'm not very tech savvy, the sketches make it clear to me what you are trying to achieve! About 12 years ago I took a class on understanding Japanese knitting patterns and many of them are very simply written, mostly a diagram with the measurements, and the number of stitches and the placement of increases and decreases and maybe a chart for the colourwork/texture pattern.

Yes, I definitely get things out of your videos. I don't get everything, and that's OK...it's still more than I get from most other machine knitting channels. Resources are so limited, and you are invaluable to those of us learning along with you!!

Ohje, ich fühle so sehr mit Dir - wie ärgerlich, dass der Ärmel verdreht war! So viel Arbeit! Mir geht das auch öfter so und das ist frustrierend, weil man sich vorher so viele Gedanken gemacht hat und dann läuft so etwas Blödes schief...

I appreciate the realness of your videos - the accidents, the project fatigure, or simply not feeling like recording x prototype. Seeing snippets of your code featured is really cool too. I know how to create my calculations in excel/sheets but the way you have it coded is 😍
