The idea that Howard overcame his demons by going to therapy, doing yoga and becoming a cheesy "namaste" guy is just one of the most hilarious/genius ideas in the Breaking Bad/BCS universe. Characters like Mike, Walt, and Jimmy (at first) convince themselves that they're beyond saving and that they'll be bad people forever therefore preventing themselves from actually questioning their decisions while Howard manages to improve his attitude by doing the boring "normal" things they won't even consider.
To me, one of the most tragic lines of dialogue is at Howard's funeral when they say that HHM is being dissolved. Not only did Chuck and Howard lose their lives as a result of Jimmy's actions, but their entire legacies were completely and utterly erased.
It breaks my heart that even though Howard is furious at them, when Lalo shows up and Kim and Jimmy are terrified Howard immediately starts trying to mediate right before he's killed. Even after all of that it seems like he still cared about them underneath all the bad blood. What a legend.
I have absolutely no respect for the people who say Jimmy and Kim “did nothing wrong”. Howard is the purest soul of the show. I hated his fate. They massacred my boy 😿
fuck this video gon make me cry fly high howard fr. ill admit i thought he was an asshole for a while but thats cause writing is so good. i never expected his story arc to go this direction. we love howard hamlin in this fucking house
I love Howard because he proves Chuck wrong. Chuck always says that "people don't change," but Howard changes so significantly in the later seasons that Kim and Jimmy refuse to believe it's genuine.
“HHM is growing again, and I could use you… Charlie Hustle” Howard was nothing but kind to Jimmy for the most part, and seemed to genuinely like him, he gave so many extra chances and his death was absolutely tragic :(
Something that really endeared Howard to me was when he rented out that boxing ring to see if throwing some punches would get Jimmy’s juvenile rage out of his system. Something about that, going to all that trouble to actually rent out a ring and a ref, is so deeply earnest and… almost kind? It came off like a genuine attempt to reach Jimmy and establish some kind of connection and truce between them. Yet by season 6, Jimmy is too far gone for that. Like you say in the video, Jimmy is living in the Breaking Bad universe now whereas Howard is still in Better Call Saul, and the contrast couldn’t be clearer.
Howard's death is one of those undeserved deaths in this series. Even thought he was losing it all, marriage falling apart, and made an ass out of himself thanks to the prank by Jimmy & Kimmy, he still had motiviation to keep going and still had the desire to come out on top. If only he'd stay away from Jimmy completely 😢
Howard was the best human being on the show. He was exactly as good as he tried to make himself look like he was, which is very rare for a person of that type.
The humanity in Howard is what makes him so great, he made mistakes, he fucked up, but he took a step back and chose to learn, in a world where people continuously become the worst version of themselves he stood out and paid the heaviest price for it, if he was just a little bit worse he would've never contacted Jimmy again for a job offer
He is frankly one of the best characters in the series from his character development alone. A superb redemption story with an insanely tragic ending. Admittedly, Howard's death shocked me and was one of the most impactful moments in the show
The moment I began to feel Howard more as an actual character and not just an petty, rich antagonist was when Kim was about to leave HHM and he talks about how he wanted to go his own way and you see in his eyes the regret and the sadness he feels for not going through that path, and then he smiles, his eyes still deep in that "What could've been" expression, all his life shackled by either the H or the M
