I have an R1250R and have adapted it for comfort - screen, bar risers and panniers. It’s a naked in a dressing gown - sorta GS’d it a little.

Tim, get yourself a K1600 GTL. Storage for 3 family shops, and it'll teleport you to the Black Forest before you've even finished putting your lid on. And it has a clutch (with quick shifter making it optional). And heated seats.

The K16 isn't a bike, it's a spaceship that happens to have wheels.

My friend was looking at one of these - I’ve sent him this and told him to subscribe to the channel 😂

Don’t worry touring on the MXR. It’s a brilliant Bike to tour on. All you need to do is buy the S 1000 XR rack four bolt and you can then put on a top box. I did this with a bag on the backseat and did 2500 miles through France Switzerland, Austria, Germany through the black forest, Belgium, France, and Home. It was comfortable getting down there and you basically got a sports bike when you’re on the bus roads. So pleased with the Bike.

Got the 1200 as a retirement present 10 yrs ago. Still riding it. Fantastic bike. Does everything.

Tim sounding like he's in a Spitfire :) Love it.

Among BMW Motorrad's two-cylinder boxer lineup, the R1300RS is the most interesting model. It also strongly gives off a KTM vibe.

My 1050 triumph speed triple is a keeper , still having fun on my old cbr 600 f3 , there something special about older bikes , been riding for 40 years the buzz never goes, great vid Tim.

Had the 1200 RS and currently have 1250 RS and about to upgrade. I actually switching to the naked 1300 R as test rode it and it was bags of fun. I tour 3 weeks a year and it will work for that too plus rest of the year I have the fun part

Iv'e been through all this over 40 years. From New Zealand travelled accross Europe, but now regularly only Russia 300,000km÷. Huge bikes, but now 650 VStrom and i won't have anything else.

In Brazil alone, BMW sold 16,000 motorcycles last year. I love my BMW R1300 GSA ASA Triple Black.

Tim ; as owner of a horsepower, hooligan devil ( MTS) , like your XR, plus owner of a 1200GSA , I can tell you that that torque is king , in preference to screaming horsepower . Torque wins every time in roll on acceleration also .

@Chris-mn7yy 3 weeks ago

I've got the R1250 RS. Great bike.

Both the Ardennes and Black Forest have good riding roads but generally the sight lines are poor as the trees frequently border the road. Shaded areas can remain damp until late morning with the added hazard of leaves especially in the Autumn. I'm not trying to put anyone off but there are better places to aim for in France in September. Try the Tarn, Ardeche or Cevennes (Michelin Map 526). For a first night Aim for Laon (Hotel de Banniere de France) and pick up the Chemin des Dames (WW1) before heading to the Meuse at Sedan.

I'm off on Monday (14th) for a solo adventure across to France, Vosages mountains and onto Switzerland, wanted to do Baden Baden but only have Mon to Sat. Weather looking good though, mesh gear I think! 👍
