18:20 It's really amazing how complex some of the old RCs are and how much real true engineering went into designing them. it's a beautify masterpiece of nitro art.

Hi, I have a question. I have an HPIRS43 Evo and I was trying to install the engine and all of a sudden I heard a weird noise so I took the engine out and then I just sort of touched the smaller gear. Attached the transmission I’m gonna call it the second gear Closest to the silver portion in the center anyways that’s smaller gear if I wobble it from left or right with my finger if I just touch it, it’ll wobble and the first gear will not wobble if I go left or right, but the smaller gear will wobble. Is that an issue ? Thank u

I remember being young and drooling over pictures (back in the 90s that’s all we had) of the Serpent on road cars, some had 3speeds. I should start scouring the marketplaces for an old one.❤🙏

Thanks for the cool video! This is some great and at the same time very simple piece of technology! It's a shame that HPI are no longer making these type cars that are using these 2 speed transmission!

Awesome review on 2 speeds trans.!..💯👍
That was one of the reasons why I always ran a greaseless trans in my MGT.!
The grease or oil would eventually bleed inside the O-way bearing an cause it to slip an not
shift into second gear an then fry the O-way bearing!..😎👍

That was a good point for people troubleshooting…, just because you don’t hear a shift, doesn’t mean that it’s stuck in first - it can be so loose that it’s in second from the get-go 👍
At that point you need a bit of experience to know if it’s one or the other. General idea :
- no shift but top speed is good that’s perma 2nd
- no shift but slow AF then stuck in first.

Great vid..!

Wanted to touch bases with you I'm currently in the progress of building some really nice RS4 Nitro from back in the day, I was one of the first ones to hit 100 miles per hour in Miami and I'm just getting back into it wanted to talk to you about some gearing availability. Lol
