We gave the Thunderbolts another shot—and so glad we did. ⚡ This is our First Watch Reaction to Marvel’s Thunderbolts*, freshly re-edited and reposted for you all! The original cut of our reaction needed a little polish, but now it’s back in all its chaotic, superhero-squad glory. From Florence Pugh’s Yelena and Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier, to David Harbour’s Red Guardian and Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent, this team-up movie is Marvel at its messiest and most fun. Since we’re working our way through every corner of the MCU ahead of the next Avengers film, you better believe this one was high on our list. Whether you’re here for the banter, the chaos, or just to see two internet best friends absolutely gobsmacked, welcome back—this time, Thunderbolts is here to stay.

"Daddy, I'm so alone." Is the most earnest, heartfelt, crushing line delivery ever. And you're right, without her, this doesn't work. She binds the movie together at its emotional core.

There is nothing funnier than Bob standing off to the side and clapping like he's in the audience, like, "Hey, good for you, guys!"

What I love is that they didn't try to give a proper answer to depression. From the post credits scene, it's clear Void is not gone permanently and it also took most of Bob's strength with him. Depression isn't defeated, it's delayed or mitigated. It can also make you feel incredibly powerful, even in the face of despair or emptiness. While the movie pulls its punches a little bit with the payoff, it still managed to pull that off brilliantly.

Marvel: What if Depression was a villain?

You were so right, this movie doesn't work without Florence Pugh. Yelena's "daddy I'm so alone" line was the most earnestly heartbreaking the MCU has ever been

Bucky and Yelena's team: New Avengers
Sam and Scott's team: West Coast Avengers
Kamala and Kate's team: Young Avengers

Been looking to rewatch this for a couple of weeks but couldn’t find it. Glad you were able to get it cleared.

the way Bob describes his highs and lows, and given his traumatic upbringing, bipolar disorder is much more likely than dissociative identity disorder

this was my favorite MCU film since GotG 3 and is top 5 for me

As a dad to a little girl, Red Guardian is my new favorite in the MCU

I love that the ultimate weapon in this movie was a group hug. The way Sentry/Void was done is a welcome change from the comic. Hopefully Marvel is taking a note from what Gunn is doing with DC and letting each character/team have their own voice. Fantastic Four shows that as a maybe, so my fingers are crossed. I really liked FF, BTW.

I only caught this on my 2nd rewatch but Yelena’s opening fight in shadow is basically what we’re all in for.

Also, I feel seen by this movie 😢❤

p.s. I like Steven Yeun but he’d totally be a different Bob, I think. Lewis Pullman pulls off the adorkableness & the menace ❤
