I created the tier list myself as you went through the list, and surprisingly it was mostly same and my reasoning was pretty similar to yours <3
There were a few derivations but they were all 'important but depends' and I totally agree with your rationale for them.
I started my mixing journey 2018 and your channel and training courses have been one of the great sources for learning. Thank you and please keep good work!

I agreed with everything! Except one. Mixing in mono. I find it vital to hear the mid channel and compare that with the mid channel of references.

I would have put daws into "depends". Not because they mac the mix sound different but because of the workflow and appearances. I mean mixing with FL Studio, Cubase or Ableton can be a totally different beast workflow wise.

Great video, i'm an amateur but i'm learning and your videos helps me a lot. I agree with pretty much everything you said, except maybe for the DAW because Cubase is way more adapted for my sound than FL studio for example. In Cubase i can do great things simply but when i'm in FL studio i'm losing my mind on some dumb things, but as you said it's just workflow.
Oh and by the way i started using the control room and it's fantastic, not the the subject of this video but thank you very much for this advice.

Thanks for the video! Your content consistently reminds me not to overthink gear and plugins. I do have one question though: Do you approach mixing differently when the audio comes solely from software synths, samples, and loops? In other words, does the genre or instrument choice significantly impact your mixing process?h

Audio interface matters IF you want the extra good stuff from it. My UA Apollo has a desktop mixer in Windows and the connections are amazing + the good plugins you use in recordings.

Wow, great! I do have a question that is likely peripheral to all this. I use tempo matching when analyzing recorded music, but I would never do this to an actual recording. However, it seems to me that even small amounts of tempo smoothing degrade the overall sound quality. From what I have heard, some published music does use at least a bit of tempo matching. So, perhaps this isn't an entirely hypothetical issue out in the real world. The question is, does tempo smoothing affect the final results of the mix? If so, would upsampling before smoothing affect this?
