The cabin needs walls. The walls need logs. And apparently, I need coffee, angry music, and several announcements that I’m finally about to get started.

We’re back out Past the Oaks for another long day at base camp—enjoying the arrival of fall weather, waiting out the afternoon heat, and eventually getting down to the hard work of debarking pine logs for the cabin.

Along the way, there’s a new selfie stick to try out, an update on the neighbor’s flowers that aren’t exactly loving their relocation, and another appeal for someone to help get Miss Cindy those gluten-free acorn cookies. I’ve got logs to peel, but she’s got expectations. 😂

Then it’s drawknife time, wrestling heavy logs, and working through the pile before packing up camp for the night.

This is the beginning of the road to walls: harvesting timber, preparing materials, and putting in the hours before the next big change takes shape. Learning as I go, with plenty of distractions along the way.

Ain’t nothing to it but to do it.
