I like both tbh. Balancing several dungeon runs with world questing.  I like actually learning the dungeons and the only way to do that is to run them a couple times 😅

The dripping in blues was from the dungeon quest rewards, which they have now nerfed to be mostly green items and not blue. I think it was easier to see on alliance side since HoT had 3-4 blue items from quests. Not sure what the RFC quests were in terms of rewards...

"Because your friend wants to do it" is a great reason to do a dungeon. As a solo player I'm just assuming I won't be able to do any dungeons unless I play a healer because healers have zero reason to pug dungeons a second time.

There is a portal to a dungeon boarded up at that dwarves site near the xroads in the quarry area

The issue I had with getting 2-3 levels from turning in dungeon quests is that it seemed to completely miss their stated goal. I completely skipped the northern part of the Barrens as well as Silverpine, simply by doing two dungeons. It's basically the exact same scenario as before, with the only difference being I only had to do the dungeons once, instead of 10+ times. With the reduced exp from quests, they are at the very least doing what they set out to do.

The dripping in blues was from the quest rewards not the drops, also everything was really well itemised, as opposed to strength spirit cloth

The problem with tying dungeon xp to quests is that it makes some dungeons just feel really bad. SFK has zero alliance quests and you’ll get more xp from exploration running there then you get from clearing it.

SM is 4 dungeons and has 2 quests tied to it, so again you get almost no xp for dungeons that will take quite awhile for alliance to get too.

If they don’t want people dungeon grinding, fine. I don’t understand it but it’s not my game to make. But atleast throw us a bone and start stocking these dungeons up with quests

Mike is missing a big problem with his argument.
There is huge imbalance between dps and tank/heal players, and this will extubate the issue. Not every player who plays queues with friends.

If the only incitive to repeat a dungeon is a social one, this will be a huge problem that will be filled by tanks/heals who will only run dungeons for gold.

I will say, I had one of the most cursed experiences after these changes. Group wanted to kill the exact amount of quest mobs in the dungeon then skip as much as possible that isn't a boss, cuz why waste time killing them when u get nothing. Some very scuffed walljumping and wallhugging just to skip ~70% of the dungeon to save 15 minutes. Probably gonna be quite bad a few weeks after launch.

The map probably marks the location of the new portal in the southern Barrens. Its the dwarven excavation site, it has a new portal added and its blocked by bolders.

For sure, some of the people complaining about the mob xp in dungeons just want to be able to grind dungeons. However, there is a legitimate long-term issue to consider in that outside of the first few weeks after launch it might be tough to find groups to do even the one run you need for your quests. Completely killing mob xp means most people will just run dungeons only once and with the nerfed quest xp some might skip them altogether.

I hope they do more solving puzzles type of stuff like this, it's always really cool to see the community coming together to solve it, just like what happen during either BFA or Legion where everyone was solving a puzzle and end up getting a void mount at the end, that was so cool to see, witness and watch progress

I get your point Preach, but I think there is a common ground that is achievable here. The previous exp you get from quests gave you almost 2 levels each, this can skip a lot of quests or even skip entire zones. I leveled from 16 to 20 without doing a single quest in The Barrens (Besides the prequest chains for WC). Now with the 50% nerf it's okay, but the exp from mobs it's too low, people want dungeons to be at least replayable 2-3 times but not grindable like they were before. I think there is a sweet spot they can achieve with balancing exp from quests and dungeon mobs.

Look into the quest you get from the relic off the last boss. It takes you back to mulgore and you discover a new faction.

Synergize both experiences to dungeon a bit more on your alts if you want to level that way.
Run a dungeon to boost experience gains outside of them.

my main gripe with the dungeon exp decrease is hunter pets. I was lvl 18 on my hunter and decided to pop down and see if The Rake was around. He was! Tamed him!. He's level 10. Typically, dungeons were the best way to level low level pets. But with the decrease in exp, it's awful. I guess the best method is to kite green leveled mobs around? Maybe they could add an exp increase for pets specifically only in dungeons? idk, it sucks to level a low level pet now though. And this is level 18. When a 60 hunter tames Broken Tooth, is it going to be even worse?

If they want to push towards open world sure, but making the questing experience terrible is having lots of players in the zones - the right mobs don't respawn, items are looted, and there's little benefit to grouping.

They need to make that experience better if they are going to nerf dungeon xp this much.

Making large mystery quests like those silly secret quests in retail but make it fit in with the lore would be amazing for this game

The spirit of classic is letting you have your own adventure your own way. If the original developers didn't want you doing the same dungeon multiple times they wouldnt have made so many dungeon quests that require multiple runs. I'm not a dungeon grinder but I am someone who enjoys doing each one 2-3 times as I level because I find them fun. I'm now getting shafted because of the tiny fraction of the community who is just going to find the next fastest way to level anyway.

that feeling of exploring completely unknown dungeons was so magic. I remember my first deadmines, I had no idea what to expect and then I remember seeing smite's hammer drop as a feral druid, seeing that blue items felt so damn special. My next biggest memory was having a group of friends that I'd met while leveling (early TBC) and one of them talked about BRD. I knew nothing but it sounded hard and it sure was! we tried it nightly for a week and never cleared it. Nowadays I don't think a group could accept not clearing a dungeon, there was just something so massive about that feeling.

Really hoping to experience something like that, but I know that the way we all game has changed whether we like it or not!
