hahah bro this was EXACTLY what i was looking for. great review, thanks for the comedic relief. looking forward to more videos from you bro. great energy and charisma

You can actually store the little Allen wrench tool in the included carrying case (there a small internal pouch), very helpful to avoid losing it while shooting!

nice review. it is at the end of the day still very understandable that a tool you end up using should also be pretty. I also hated these flimsy tripods for ages, and was super tempted when that tripod came out. I just didnt want shell out that much money. However, after all these years I went for the aluminium version, which i got for an ok-ish price :)

good gawd. no one even mentioned the iphone holder! AWESOME.

Cool video! I wouldnt get it for myself, as I actually dont like the design, but I can imagine it fits a lot of travel kits very well!

I needed the most tripod to fit in the least space and the PD carbon seemed to fit the requirement for me. The tripods I bought prior to this PD rarely got used because of their bulk and propensity for catching any any loop or strap within a hundred feet of it. I'd cringe at the very thought of having to take them along in the kayak or packraft and they never got used. The PD is such a joy that even the slightest notion of needing a tripod I just take it along. Enjoyed the video....

I have the carbon fibre version.  I took the view that I was only going to buy this once so it was worth paying more for the carbon fibre version.  Also, I found a mint second hand one and got it for a really great price from an official stockist so the lifetime warranty was preserved.

Pros:
Lightweight.
Compact.
Remarkably sturdy.
Quick to open/close.
The design - it’s beautifully designed and made.

Cons:
Cost (obviously).
The storage bag is a little bit too short - like 1-2cm too short, which makes zipping the tripod in and out of the case a bit more fiddly.
No panoramic feature.

I took mine on holiday and was doing 30s exposures on it without any issues.  The main limitation was that there’s no panoramic head on it, which I have ordered a mini arca-swiss compatible panoramic adaptor (approx £30 on eBay) which can go in my camera bag when not in use.  I want to be able to level the tripod, then pan without having to adjust the level, so that’s a great addition for me.

Ha ha. So funny. I also didn't realize it came with the phone mount when I bought it. Ended up using the phone mount more than the regular mount. For more serious work you can get the standard ball head mount and replace the Peak mount with whatever you are currently using. I'd probably use tape to secure the wrench. You don't want to lose it because it also works on screws. I'd suggest a replacement phone mount and a replacement wrench set. They're not very expensive. [Tip: When setting up, open all clips at the same time. Reverse when closing. Saves a bit of time.]

I have the carbon fiber version and it is light. Much lighter than the Gitzo carbon fiber I have.

I got it for free when I bought my camera and I was pleasantly surprised! I thought I was getting some cheap promo thing. Btw it's really easy to flip all the levers on each leg open in one movement if you're extending all the leg segments.

Great video, Luke! I gave in as well on Black Friday, but definitely don't regret it so far. Can't wait to travel with this thing!

A couple of other companies are giving Peak Design a run for their money offering similar tripods (with improved design) at a lower price.

Damn it! You pushed me over the edge…I’m buying it!

I have a I think 15 year old tripod and although I don’t use a tripod much it’s great to have for certain shots. The one I have is flimsy and falling apart. It’s cumbersome to travel with. I think it’s worth it and if it last 10+ years I think it’s worth it

God damnit you’re making me want this tripod.

I‘m coming from 10 years with a 29€ Hama tripod, now buying the carbon Peak Design :D

Have you seen the HEIPI tripod?

Chinese made? No lifetime warranty? Are limited to supporting up to 11lbs vs 20lbs?

Is the weight saved by buying the carbon fiber worth the increase in cost? I'm torn between which one to get. What made you choose aluminum outside of price?

At least youre smart to buy a tripod with a lifetime warranty.

No shade, but just too expensive for me. I'm willing to be slightly inconvienced for a greatly cheaper price.
