Cried and cried during my FIRST TIME reaction to James Blunt – “Monsters.” This James Blunt Monsters reaction hit me far harder than I expected. I knew James Blunt could deliver emotional songs, but I was not prepared for just how powerful, personal, and heartbreaking “Monsters” would be.
On this episode of TAKE IT BACK REACTIONS, I’m hearing James Blunt’s “Monsters” for the first time, and this became one of those reactions where analyzing the music almost takes a back seat to simply experiencing it.
“Monsters” appears on James Blunt’s 2019 album Once Upon a Mind, and the song remains part of his official catalog today.
The emotion in this song is incredible. The lyrics, James Blunt’s vocal delivery, and the meaning behind the song build into something that feels incredibly intimate. There are songs that make you emotional, and then there are songs that catch you completely unprepared. This was the second kind for me.
I cried. Then I cried some more.
Sometimes a first-time reaction becomes memorable because a song surprises you musically. Other times, it introduces you to an artist you should have discovered years ago. And sometimes a song connects with something so deeply human that you almost forget you're filming a reaction.
“Monsters” was that kind of experience.
James Blunt is an English singer-songwriter whose career exploded internationally following his debut album Back to Bedlam. If you’ve ever experienced the fear of losing someone you love, watched your parents grow older, or had to think about saying goodbye to someone who has always seemed larger than life, you may understand why this song can hit so hard.
This wasn't just another music reaction for me. This was one of those moments where music reminded me why songs can mean so much to people.
