Paar Channa De is sung by Noori, Shilpa Rao on Coke Studio Season 9 Episode 4. Paar Chanaa De is a soulful track with an indie-rock feel with Noori and Shilpa Rao’s unique vocals and Noor Zehra’s impeccable groove on ‘Sagar Veena.’ ✴️🩵

Old lady is only living human on earth who can play sagar vena.

Fun facts:
Noor Zahra is the "ONLY" Sagar Veena player in this entire world for over 40 years. She is self taught for this instrument. NO Guru.
She is also the mother of the lead singers of this CS track; "Ali Noor" and "Ali Hamza"

Madam Noor Zehra is the mother of Noori Boys, the band performing in the song.

this song actually have a spiritual meaning. the clay pot is the human body as it is made of clay, sohni is the soul, and mahiwal is GOD. soul wants to meet God but this body is very weak to temptations and becomes impure, the body is protesting that it cannot meet god that its very weak and fragile.

Fact: Graves of Sohni and Mahiwal (Sohni and Mahyar) are located in small town Shahdadpur, District Sanghar in Sindh.

This damn song.

Especially Shilpa Rao's part in the middle and Noori's singing in the end was just the cherry on top.

Beautiful song performed by beautiful and talented people who poured their hearts into it.

Good thing about the CK Pakistan is, they value the music and musician and the example is the silence of other music instruments at the time of Sagar Veena (by Madam Noor Zehra). And the creativity level of CS Pakistan is just mind blowing.

Just to add Noorie is not the first vocalist but a band composed of two brothers Ali Hamza (first male vocalist and Ali Noor (second vocalist who sang Ghareya part).

Their mother is the that lady sagar veena player Noor Zehra and their grandfather Raza Kazim (nana of Noorie brothers) invented that Instrument in 1970. Noor Zehra is the only player of Sagar Veena available.

This is one of the best performances produced by Coke studio . Even though I will be 66 next month but listening to this rendition of Sohni Mahiwal's tragic story saddens me .

@MahmoodAhmad-j5z 2 months ago

What a fit sound of the Shilpa Rao she is looking very beautiful for that's story of the sohani mahival of the Pakistan every where popular after that in the world wide plz

@Defnotaaribeditz 3 years ago (edited)

Clay pot is human body,
sohni is human soul,
river is life,
hut across the river is grave and Mahiwal is the creator awaiting the soul to leave the body and unite with it.
And to successfully unite with the creator you have to choose the sound guide "religion" carefully.
Superb Sufi song. 👍
