After the match, Hector is shown wrapping tape around his knuckles and wrists and he spots Lepidis and Rubio approaching him. He eyes them for a moment, but then resumes his wrapping and then asks what they want. Lepidis and Rubio look at one another and Lepidis shrugs.
“We heard about you facing the head of The Destefano Family tonight. Luca Destefano. Do you know anything about him?” Lepidis asks and Hector merely shrugs.
“Should I have? I fought his top guy, Funko? I beat him without any issues. He hit hard, sure, but I hit harder. Luca surrounds himself with lackeys and sells false promises to people like my brother so he can use them for his own ends. Like having them officiate his matches, which I have learned Luca has my brother serving as the special guest referee... Sounds more like a schemer than a fighter, no?” Hector asks as he eyes Lepidis and Rubio.
“Your confidence is inspiring, Hector. Some would call it arrogance though and they’d be right to. Luca doesn’t surround himself because he’s weak or incapable. He does it because he has earned his place. Sure, he has an act he does, Furio and Darmino follow it too. Behind the costumes and personalities are some tough sons of bitches though.” Lepidis says as Hector nods thoughtfully.
“You gonna beat around the bush and glaze these guys or are you going to get to your point?” Hector asks as he now looks directly at Lepidis who sighs.
“Just needed to make sure I have your attention.” Lepidis says as he and Hector glare at one another. “Now that I do… Luca is an indie darling. He’s the real deal and he was scouted out by Samira Tarek herself. She chose him to come to WWE specifically, his followers and wife were just part of the package he negotiated with her. I’ve faced him before. So has Rubio. So you will have a real fight on your hands and that fight will have back up in his corner.”
“Oh… So on top of gaslighting my brother into favoring him, he’s going to need back up in order to ‘get the job done’?” Hector asks as he laughs and then points at the two of them. “You’re telling me one thing, but damn are you giving me every conceivable evidence that what you’re trying to tell me isn’t true.” Hector says as he laughs, which prompts Rubio to step to him.
“You’re a former two time world champion. You’re among the best in this business and yet you’re standing there telling us that you didn’t bother to get to know your opponent? He’s manipulating your brother! He’s poisoning your own flesh and blood! I would think you’d want every edge against these people! Yet here you are with not a care in the world.” Rubio says as Hector glares at him. Lepidis then puts an arm forward and separates the two.
“The backup isn’t meant to be there to protect Luca. It’s there to remind Alex of what is expected of him and what will come for him if he does not deliver. Think about it. Jason saw it and we know you saw it too. Tonight isn’t about beating you, it’s about controlling Alex. This is all just a flex by Luca and his Family on all of us. We’re just the only ones aware of it! Make Alex see that, once he understands what’s being done to him, he’ll know that he’s been bought into a lie. Rubio and I gain nothing by helping you… We’re only reaching out because they wronged us first. We just want them to lose and you might just get exactly what you want by listening to us. It’s really that simple.” Lepidis says as he then taps his head and points to Hector before walking off.
Hector then looks at Rubio and then smirks and gestures for him to add anything. Rubio shrugs and thinks for a moment before smirking.
“I find it funny that Lepidis and I care more about helping your brother than you seem to be.” Rubio says as Hector’s own face turns into a scowl. “Oh, that upset you big guy? Then go out there and prove us wrong! It’s all ya gotta do!” Rubio says as he laughs and then walks off, leaving Hector alone. Hector’s scowl remains but then he does seem to consider their words as he looks to the side.
