I gotta tell this story again. I was a huge Duran fan as teenager. I walked a mile and a half in minus 23 Canadian winter to get to the pub to watch this. When I got there a packed pub of Canadian meatheads were watching an important hockey game. I changed the channel and politely explained who and what Duran was. The whole back story. As I held the drunk crowd back slowly the crowd became transfixed. As the fight wore on the pub got louder and louder. At the end of the fight the pub was delirious with what they had just witnessed. Most never heard of Duran ALL new Duran fans at the end. Had it not been for Durans mastery I could have died. Edmonton Alberta. The 80’s. hockey. You cannot be in a more intimidating atmosphere. PURE MAGIC

Watching Duran stand in the ring against the world champion who is taller, heavier, more than a decade younger, and who's in peak physical condition, and Duran goes toe-to-toe with him for 12 rounds— excelling in the final three rounds —demonstrates irrefutably that he is truly one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters— perhaps the greatest —of all time. Words simply can't describe the respect and admiration I have for this man—what an inspiration!

Duran got everything. He can dance, slip and roll, excellent distance management, he is a master at infighting, counter punching, combination punching, a chin and hands of stone. He’s got every tool in the bag.

Duran fought for five (5) decades. Incredible!

I like the way Iran loyally smiles accepting decition. Good man. Great champions both.

I agree totally.. Probably my favorite fighter of all time was ROBERT DURAN.. You could just feel ...He was born a fighter.

The last mountain the great Duran would climb came in this remarkable win at 37... round 11, wow.

Duran was such a smooth operator.  He looks like he came out of the womb fighting.  It looks so natural with nothing forced.

Look at Duran at the end of the fight, looks so clean. Fantastic conditioning. What a fighter!

Duran defensive slip, roll and bob skills are unreal and not talked about enough because he is such a phenomenal counter puncher.

I’ve watch many fights for 58 yrs.  Definitely one of my favorite fights.   Duran earn all respect

If I was a 37 year old fighter NO WAY would I want to get in the ring with a 28 year old Iran Barkley damn he is so strong !!!!! Great fight. Legends.

Duran has the quickest reactions. Every single thing his opponent does is responded to in a millisecond and then he starts his own attack. If he had gone to the Olympics he'd have won multiple Golds.

DUran is so relaxed in the ring, even though his facial expressions say otherwise lol

I come back and watch this fight every few years. Duran is so good. Gil Clancy on the microphone is equally amazing.

When Roberto really wanted something, and trained accordingly, he was unstoppable

One of the greatest boxing fights ever. Classic.

Duran is so experienced and fast moving at the last split second to avoid a punch. Darn he's quick. Before I saw this fight for the first time I  picked Robero to win just like with Moore. He took some shots for sure but he's just one tough SOB. One of my favorite fighters of all time.

Ever get involved in a street fight?
You want Roberto Duran on your side.

These are 2 of the last dudes you'd ever want to get in a street fight with. Just 2 skilled, mean fighters.
