We’ve all been in that situation where someone makes transphobic comments or questions trans rights. We don’t always know how to respond.

In this video I give answers to some of the most common arguments so that we can all feel more confident in challenging them.

I'm making this video because I work a lot with the trans and gender diverse community and want to share the knowledge that I have in support of trans rights. However I am not trans myself and would always recommend consulting a broad range of different view points in this discussion.

It's always best to center trans voices in this conversation rather than mine(!) so check out these fab trans speakers and go support them if you find their content beneficial....

This video and your additional video with scientific fact were both great! Really simple clear answers to questions that are thrown out daily. I have been working in retail and gyms over the past 10 years in the UK and i have had COUNTLESS conversations with staff, heads of department, managers, customers about trans rights and most of the time just the basics of “I don’t actually know what trans means”. Educating the general public in the real world is done conversation by conversation, one step at a time and we can’t stop spreading what we know. Thank you for the facts, that is usually what wins people over and it is amazing that however many people who watch this and spread the information will be changing minds!

I think a big issue when it comes to talking to transphobes is they categorize trans women with cis men. They think that statistics relating to cis men can be applied towards trans women and they dismiss statistics relating towards trans women specifically.

I dunno where you find these soft arguments, but the people I argue with online outright tell me that I've forced myself into that vulnerable position of being the most at-risk demographic, simply by existing.

Thank you for such an eloquent, grown up and accurate portrayal of trans women - and all of us. You are correct that a woman's space is only safe if the people going there are decent. If a man wants to rape a woman, a women's bathroom won't keep her safe. Thankfully such incidents are few - though one is way too many. And trans women are just wanting the same - to be safe. Thank you also for highlighting the fact that trans women are more likely to be attacked. An attack on anyone - anyone at all is wrong. I have long socially transitioned, but I am medically on that journey now. Thank you again and hope your channel continues to grow.

I am cis, but it hurts me to see people discriminated against for something they can't help. The rest of my family are all transphobes. I try to get them to be more accepting, but I'm not too good at debating. I'm watching this video in the hopes of getting better debate materials and techniques.

While I disagree on the arguments, I do appreciate the way you give them in such a calm and well-spoken way. It really sets the healthy vibe for a potential conversation/discussion I'm having with your arguments in my head xD Thanks for it.

I'm a cis white guy who comes from a mormon fundamentalist background. I used to be extremely homophobic when i was in my teens. It's so hard to reason with the people who disagree with, dislike, or even hate trans people. It's got me feeling like I need to study foucault or some shit. idk. Hopefully the culture in america changes! Sometimes the future looks bleak
