Hearing, "I grew up playing the lego games" made my arthritis flare up.

in '77 EVERYBODY in the theater cheered when the imperial destroyer passed overhead in the beginning. There was never such a shot of a ship before that one. It was truly mind blowing and a stand-out memory.

"3PO is a drama queen and R2 is sassy" - that's perfect! 😂

I went into Star Wars completely blind because I saw it the day it opened in 1977. And it was freaking awesome. For me, none of the other Star Wars movies have ever come close to that thrill of seeing the Imperial Cruiser first coming down from the top of the screen into view and slowly filling up nearly the entire screen. Or the chill of Darth Vader's very first entrance. Or the open-mouthed amazement when the Falcon made the first jump to light speed. The whole movie was full of things that no one had ever seen before. An incredible imaginative achievement.

Hi Raine, Star Wars ‘ruined’ my life. I had a simple life of manual labor in my future, until I saw this film in 1977. When I came out of the theater I wanted to be an artist, a line of work frowned upon and discouraged by my culture. I pursued art in college and was often discouraged by even some of my classmates! I took a leap of faith. I dropped out of college and moved to Canada to study art. I worked odd jobs to pay the rent, trying to find work as an artist. Each Star Wars film that came out encouraged me to keep going. I even got to meet John Rosengrant and his wife in a sculpting convention. John worked on The Terminator films. He critiqued my sculptures and encouraged me to keep going. I am now a working illustrator and sculptor, with commissions I could only dream about years ago. All that I am right now, good and bad, because Star Wars: A New Hope made me dream.

To clarify: they are not clones. Storm Troopers are a military made out of conscripted and volunteer troops

NO SPOILERS, people.  Even though Raine knows a few things about the Star Wars saga, it's still NOT cool to give spoilers about the next episodes.

I saw this in the theater in 1977 when I was 4 1/2 years old. To say I was blown away is an understatement. I also met Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) at the first Star Wars convention. I ran up to him and said “YOU’RE C-3PO!!! He pressed his finger to his lips and said quietly “Shhh, don’t tell anyone!” And gave me a sly smile. So awesome.

Raine, I applaud you for discussing what you know about the Star Wars story.   🤘🤘

A movie reactor's greatest attribute is honesty.  Giving honest and sincere reactions to movies, not faking anything, is the best way to attract more subscribers.

In case you didn't notice, this is the Special Edition. The CGI, sound effects, and additional scenes were added a few decades after the official release.

Try to imagine being 9 in 1978 and going to the CINEMA for the very first time ever and watching this.....MIND BLOWING IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.

The way the speed of the action and the music built up in the last act really had us on the edge of our seats in the cinema back when this movie was first released. You really had to be there to appreciate it.

This is where the fun begins!

A great movie made even greater by John William’s music.

Can you imagine having to wait 3 years for the next one!!!!

I was there in 77! I was 7 years old. The movie theatre had Darth Vader and a few stormtroopers to greet cinema guests as we came in, the queue was enormous. In those days a lady with a tray of ice creams came around at half time. This was the first film I’d ever seen at the cinema. Imagine the impact it had on me. I love Star Wars.

In the theatre in 1977, that moment literally shook the house. The cheer and applause was deafening and the audience went nuts!

In the original cut, the scene with Jabba didn't even exist because the scene was cut from the movie and that was only ever in the special edition releases, but he was meant to be human originally.

It was circa 1980, and we went for a drive. Like a typical kid, I didn't pay any attention to where we were going, until we pulled into a drive in theater. I had no idea what we were about to see, until the opening blew me away again. I was 3 years old when A New Hope came out, and I don't remember the first time I saw it. I will always remember that drive in.
