Clark should’ve just bought a one wish willow

@klatte3351 4 months ago

Clark ends up literally consumed by his past and Mary ends up using her past to fight her way out.

Clark is a legitimate Narcissist. He sees people as furniture.

"We did not see the body" son, captain clark literally dragged Clark's body 😭

My daughter astutely pointed out that when Clark realized that Mary was right about him blaming everyone else but himself, that's when pirate Clark attacked him. Essentially turning blame inward.

12:50 I think you've missed a key point. I read when Mary says to Clark "I can't help you" as her having a moment of realisation that she's spent her life becoming a therapist to heal people in order to fill the hole left by being unable to help her mother's mental health issues. This is a moment of catharsis for her.

We do see a body, Captain Clarke Is dragging the lifeless body of Clarke on the neighbourhood street

The endless pit of half rooms could relate to the fact that due to her profession, Mary's mind is full of views into the lives of other people.

I came here for clarification, not more confusion.

I love that at the end when Mary is escaping Captain Clark and she realizes she's safe from him, she looks at him with such pity. Sometimes people become therapists to try to save people, to make up for those they couldn't save in childhood, like Mary's mother. I had a similar experience myself. Mary realizes she needs to distance herself from her patient and not take responsibility for people who don't want to take accountability for themselves. She takes pity on him for what he's become and leaves him to his fate, accepting that some people don't want to change and to continue to try to force them will only hurt you.

Let's not overlook the connection between Clarke being an architect and Mary's home being leveled for an apartment complex

The ending made me think of The Backrooms as sort of a sentient space that has dementia

The wheelchair guy switching the light on and his ex wife with 3 faces just takes off in a full sprint will live in my head for a long time.

After seeing the movie, I have a theory that the original black entity from Found Footage #1 was something/someone the Backrooms has been trying to remember for so long that it's lost all details until it resembles a child's black-and-white stick-figure drawing.

@Cakenearby 3 months ago (edited)

in short, she started working for async, while the backrooms tried to remember her and the room, real mary in the real world, fake mary in the backrooms

It really feels like I got slingshotted back to the early days of the Internet. When you had that unpredictable, bonkers, unhinged horror

@Lux210 4 months ago

Maybe the backrooms are the friends we made along the way?

@jerimiahjackson4235 3 months ago

How was he suppose to let go of his past when he's still paying for the house?

@johnta17 3 months ago

TO me the Backrooms is a physical manifestation of someone's memories or trauma. That's why that one shot that kept going lower and lower is the iteration of a faded memory of the Therapist's hideout before the house got demolished when she was a little girl.
