Some expenses are fixed monthly costs, while others have been averaged over the year to give a more realistic picture.

For the grocery comparison, we deliberately shopped cautiously at one of the more economical supermarkets in our area, including some own-brand products where appropriate.
Of course, the Dominican Republic also has a huge selection of Dominican and international brands, so grocery costs can vary considerably depending on where you shop, what you buy and the lifestyle you choose.
And that's really the point of this video.
There is no single answer to "How much does it cost to live in the Dominican Republic?"
Your housing, electricity consumption, vehicle, eating habits, entertainment and lifestyle can make an enormous difference.
