Alma Rosa, 2 bedrooms modern, my girl and I are the first tenants in the new building. The neighborhood is nice, and safe. Thr rent is 27,000 (approx $472 dollas.) I could afford an apartment of $1,500 but why. This place was very nice and comfortable.  Food at home as the narrator says is much cheaper than the US. He is right about using Uber or InDrive. I go to a local gym and it is dirt cheap.  I go to the beach at boca chica once a month, a movie once a month. Health insurance for both of us $160 with Humana. Overall, I spend about $1,800 to $2,000 total per month.

This is a good budget! And your electricity is included which is dope!

Good explanation 👏🏽

You can live very comfortably for $1500 per month in the DR - but you need to live in the non tourist areas and avoid the real high end neighborhoods of course.

A nice apartment can be $500/month all day long.

For example, if someone has a budget of $2K a month, I would keep total expenses capped at $1500 and save $500 for rainy days.

It’s smart planning and immersing yourself in the culture.

This guy made a nice and accurate video.

this is a good video. i have lived here 10 years and yes i agree with your pricing. but you need to do a video on how to save money. 1. conversion. most people click on the atm convert to dallors you can pay up to 33% on the money you take out. 2. get a fedilty bank card or charles swab. they will give you the atm fee back. trust me if you paying your rent and pulling out cash. you will can pay a transaction fee of  20 each.   AND FOR YOUR TANK MAKE SURE YOU JUST CUT OFF THE GAS. MOST OF THE STOVE LEAK GAS.  once if started doing that the gas would last a couple months. best care is humano. get the pro plan. you will think you going to american doctor. and there have a american help desk. hopes that helps.

I'll vouch for this...I've spent about 3 years altogether, mostly living in Bayahibe, but I've also done extended stays in Puerto Plata, Sosua and Playa Juan Dolio otherwise...even so, I can stay within the budget you talk about here...like you, I have my crew that I hang out with (Bayahibe), so usually we just hang out together...believe it or not, my crew is usually 2 or 3 girls that I've known now for about 8 years or so, and we roll like family...the girls are happy to drink beer just to hang out at a place where they can dance and listen to music, nothing crazy...since they're also happy to take quart bottles of beer and share the bottles, I can afford to cover it, but the most this usually costs me would be no more than $20-$25 for the night, that maybe twice per week...note, that these are chicas that I know well, but if you're a stranger, they'll have you digging in your pockets a little deeper...I'm actually a stay at home type, cook my own food, have no budget issues, so this works for me, especially since some of my friends come with benefits...btw, I'm a permanent resident of Panama now, but I'll still roll into the DR where it's always like a homecoming for me...that makes it special, and I'm due for another trip in the next couple of months... 🙂...good post...

We’re retiring there from the Uk in 3 years , we’ll be buying outright and not owning a car. . Our budget will be about $2500 a month and that doubles after 8 years with the state pension

Hoping that’s enough to live nicely .

Very informative thanks keep up the great content..

Dope video 👌

Enjoy while last darling dr will change 🇩🇴

I think everything is fine except for your monthly rent. I’m sure you could get a nice apt for $500 and that way you could save $300 hundreds. It’s only my own opinion.🤗blessings!

Thanks!

Appreciate this video bro I been thinking of moving to the dr just trying to land a us remote job paying well or a teaching job paying on the high end that has a package where they will pay for my housing some kind of way.
