I don't think Lucifer needs Johnny to know, I think he wants him to know. Because it's more fun

This movie is hella underrated and leaves you with a sunken heart.

Mickey Rourke was brilliant in this movie. He was right up thereon a par with Brando, Clift and Dean in my opinion. He wasn't just natural, he was real.

This movie still creeps me the fuck out. Deniro was scary, but Rourke's descent into murder and madness was terrifying.

An incredibly underrated film

That ending with the elevator going down and reaching its final destination is absolutely chilling

Imagine Al Pacino's Devil meets Robert De Niro's Devil

One of the most underrated films ever and my fav Mickey Rourke flick.😧💀

The law firm that hires Harry Angel for Louis Cypher is named Winesap and Macintosh. Those are two varieties of apples.

Its a little on the nose but Harry Angel was the son of Lucifer and deliberately put there to be sacrificed. Thats why the woman in black (lucifer) was in the room before they went in. He already knew what they were doing. When Johnny ate his still beating heart (angel heart), he was taking a part of lucifer into himself unknowingly.  "You were doomed the moment you cut that boy in half". So when Johnny went to war under Harry's identity and got amnesia because of the bombing, Lucifer was carrying out his plan. Impregnate Johnny's daughter to replace the son Johnny killed and use Johnny's body as a puppet to kill everyone involved. And each time lucifer would take over is when Johnny would see the woman in black. Then violate and kill Epiphany as the final act of revenge using Johnny's body. "Eye for an eye". Lucifer was playing chess.

It just hits me that the movie tittle "Angel Heart" is actually LITERAL

That's EXACTLY why Lucifer sent Harry on this investigation. Because Lucifer needed Johnny Favourite to remember who he was before he could claim the soul either because torturing someone for something they don't remember is not satisfying at all for the devil or because the rules said Johnny has to remember his crime before he can be punished for it.

At the very end of the movie as the elevator goes down all the way you hear a voice whisper "Harry, Johnny". I honestly thought that meant he got both of their souls.

I always liked the idea that the Woman in Black was the spirit of the real Harry Angel and that Louis Cypher was mocking Johnny by using the face of the man he is pretending to be.

The cracking of the chicken egg could be a metaphor for Harold Angel being a shell and Johnny Fontaine being the egg inside waiting to be consumed by Lucifer.

Angel Heart is one of the best movies of it's time. I always found this film to be unsettling no matter how many times I'd watch it. Great movie, acting and story telling.

It seems to be the case that, back in the day, if your movie came out the same year as a huge block buster, you had a really damn good chance of your film becoming a cult classic.  Not immediately beloved, but on its way to being.

One point that we should pay attention to is the first appearance. DeNiro is in a chair sitting on a raised platform. Tell me that's not a throne.

Love this movie.... Never forgot the ending...

This movie came out during a sweet spot in the late eighties and early nineties where alot of gothic/ noir/ dark / gritty films and tv shows  all seemed to gather.
