I desperately needed to hear your words. I have received coloured pencils and colouring books as gifts and am always asked why I don't use them. I watch so many videos of completed pages and, honestly, I think I could never achieve that quality. You are absolutely correct that I am doing this for my enjoyment and not for exhibition or contests. Thank you!

You have such a relaxing voice to listen to and your philosophy on colouring is very inspiring. Thank you for sharing. I am very new to chaos colouring and I feel uncomfortable trying it hahaha but keen to give it a go.

I love the thoughts on coloring! We do see those pages and think we have to be that good to color! But we should color for the enjoyment and the stress relief!

I think perfection can be our enemy as beginners. When I first started 2 years ago, I invested in nice quality books and couldnt even color in them. I wanted to practice and printed out pages to color because I didn't want to mess up the books. Now I'm going through one book to try to complete it by the end of the year and I take less of a perfect approach and more of a "get it done" approach. Trying new things (close to chaos coloring), and while I don't feel proud of every page in the book, I still feel like I'm learning new methods. But there have been some colors where I do kind of chaos coloring. But I do think you're cheating because all of your chaos coloring pages look elegant. :D

Thanks Louis, I enjoyed hearing about your approach. Looking back at the start of my colouring journey, I think I subconsciously took this approach. As time has progressed I have taken more inspiration from tutorials but for me, this is how I learn, by taking what I see and then adapting it to be more ‘Ayshea’. I am going to use your chaos method when I need a reset or if I’m not enjoying colouring, as it will be like starting all over again for me.

I use the term "chaos coloring" too. Similar to what is now being called "dopamine coloring" (but I think that "chaos coloring" sounds more fun and is easier to say. 😅

I bought all the markers and all the coloring books. I just don't know where to start.
First step is pick a page. But do you start with a small section or color in one color all over? I'm 70 and this is so different now than when I was 7. 😂
