After reversing his pre-diabetes with a low-carb diet, an engineer finds that a rise in cholesterol has doctors convinced he’s headed for a heart attack. His personal health experiment grows into a global search for others like him, culminating in a crowd-sourced research study. Using cutting-edge heart imaging, the study overturns assumptions that have shaped medical guidelines for decades. THE CHOLESTEROL CODE is a high stakes mystery about the power of an everyday citizen to upend medicine by refusing to accept dogma as scientific truth.

Starring: Dave Feldman, Dr. Arthur Agatston, Dr. Matthew Budoff, Dr. Shawn Baker, Dr. Chris Palmer, Dr. Georgia Ede, Dr. Nick Norwitz, Dr. Bret Scher, Richard K. Bernstein, Gary Taubes and Dr. Tro Kalayjian.

Directed by: Jennifer Isenhart

Wonderful documentary. Well done Dave and everyone involved!

I'll admit I was a bit disappointed my interview didn't make the final cut. Not for my ego, but for the message it would have carried. My son was having dozens of seizures a day despite being on four anticonvulsants at maximum dose. Ketogenic therapy got him completely seizure free and significantly improved his autistic traits.
I now work in clinical nutrition at a large private clinic group, where I see a steady stream of referrals for obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome, but almost none for epilepsy or autism. That gap says a lot about how far the message still has to travel. This documentary was a real chance to put that side of ketogenic therapy in front of a much wider audience.

Thank you again for everything you've put into this.

Very interesting movie and a beautiful tribute to my father, Dr. Bernstein. Too bad he never got to see it. As he would say, "lots of luck" to you going forward.

Thank you so much for this wonderful documentary!! I am a 71 year old black woman who have been arguing with doctors since I was 34 when they first tried to put me on medication I have no health problems nor was I ever trying to reverse one. I just knew if I was healthy my whole life it was not making me unhealthy my cholesterol is 507 and I am not strict keto

I am a 54-year-old Japanese man. I work out a lot and pay close attention to my diet. About a year ago, a health checkup revealed that my LDL level was 292. The doctor remarked that he had never seen a reading like that before.

I began researching the issue myself and came across your work. I realized that I fit the profile of an LMHR. By understanding the cause and adjusting my diet, I was able to bring my LDL levels back within an acceptable range.

Thanks to you, I avoided taking medication and can continue exercising without unnecessary fear. I am truly grateful.

I started on carnivore just over one year ago. I started at 330lbs. At the time I started, I was pre-diabetic,
on 4 pills a day to manage my blood pressure and it was still climbing. I needed 4-6 400mg ibuprofen to make it through a single day.

I was hit by a car a teenager and have been in debilitating chronic pain for over 30 year. I never thought losing weight was in the cards for me.

I have been pill free for 6 months now. My blood pressure is 115/72. I’m no longer pre-diabetic…and for me most importantly I rarely need pain killers any more. From 4-6 a day to maybe 4 a month.

This has been better than winning the lottery for me. And frankly if I die in 10 years, they will have easily been the best 10 years of my life. It’s a chance I’m willing to take. I’m now 189lbs and 47 years old and easily in the best shape of my entire life…and that part is just getting started!

Hello from NZ - This was so inspiring, thank you for making this documentary. Now its time for the medical professionals to believe in science, not what a textbook taught them 50-60 yrs ago.

My doctor nearly had a heart attack when I said "NO!" to her when she said she was going to write a script for me because my cholesterol was 4x higher than normal. "But" she said... "NO, I won't take it, forget it." That was five years ago. I was on a carnivore diet, and nothing would change my mind.
