The Stowaway nanobots remind me of Doctor Who's Gasmask Zombies. They were created by basically the same process: futuristic medical nanobots that didn't know humans were released when a ship crash landed on Earth during the Blitz, they found a little boy that had been crushed in the accident, and they were able to reanimate him, but the gasmask he was wearing was now fused to his face, and the nanites thought that's what humans were supposed to be like, so they went out and started turning any and all humans. And all they could say was "Are you my Mummy?"
