The best video not about Angine de Poitrine on the internet 🔼

For the record, I REFUSE to comment on this video!! Thank you for your attention.

Lol, as the “student” mentioned here who brought them up to you, imagine my surprise seeing this “not” video today.

I refuse to do a video, and yet here we are 😉

The David Bennett explanation of how they managed to make the microtones sound comfortable for western ears is a great watch

so you're telling me that starting this year, AdP will replace Mariah Carey in Christmas' heavy rotation? I'm totally ok with it!

They do use a click track (or should we say a KLEK track, lol). The Master is the BOSS RC 600 loop station and it goes via MIDI cable into the Slave, the drummer BOSS DB 90 which is a metronome adapting perfectly to the Master loop station the guitarist uses. Thus they are perfectly in sync (I think the fact they started playing music together at the age of 12 probably helps a lot !)

Best thing about this band is being French and listening to my favorite English YouTubers trying to pronounce their names 😅

Being a hipster about them was over by the time they exploded on KEXP. They played tiny gigs and smaller festivals for a good long time and had a really loyal following in Canada for a while. Now they're booked on every huge festival until like october.

They put the time in and found fame. KEXP is such an AMAZING youtube channel, they just love music and they find all these bands I've never heard about. I feel like a solid 50% of the music I've found in the last 10ish years have come from either KEXP or Tiny Desk Concert.

They have been a thing here in Quebec for a couple of years (on the radio and the usual TV shows etc).  It has been a surprise to me to suddenly see them everywhere.  Also worth it to check out their previous band/project, La Poêsse, which is more metal.

Ola Englund made a very good point in his last Sundays with Ola episode- Angine de Poitrine stand out against a whole raft of "generated' slop music as being organic and odd, which is why they are currently resonating so strongly with people.

Thank you for the recomendatiion
Loved it at first listen

There have been plenty of one-hit wonders who have built amazing lives with just one little song, at just the right time. Even if the Angine de Poitrine phenomenon turns out to be short-lived, I'd gladly trade my life for these two talented guys who came out of nowhere. Just in 2026, they'll be playing to sold-out crowds all over Canada, the United States, and many European countries. What more could artists ask for when they achieve such meteoric international success and, above all, the recognition of their fans and peers against all odds?
What lasts 20 years these days? Not household appliances, not electronic gadgets, not cars, not even relationships! Regardless of its probable lifespan, you shouldn't stop yourself from enjoying life when it comes your way.
Bravo Khn and Klek!

Very much looking forward to your tab video on this one.

I had to watch them today … and I’m enthralled 😮😊

The band rocks out live. In one club there was a mosh. Pit. People at the front were rocking out. I just watched a little of a video about the guy who built the double neck and how he only has one and he has to take it apart a bit to travel on airplanes.

King Gizard and the Lizard Wizard,  do a lot of the microtonal music. I'm surprised you never talked about them before.

I'm really disappointed to learn you won't do a video on Angine de Poitrine. I was so looking forward to you making a tab book of their music, showing those other tab book guys from the 80s and 90s how it's really done.

Dont discount the power of serendipity.  Embrace it and see where it takes you

I only just came across these guys myself (the KEXP performance) I posted the following: .... when I first saw the thumbnail, I thought, "wtf!?" But after listening, I was like, wow! the microtone arrangements are amazing! It's rare to hear something so different + original + good nowadays 👌 ... all the best from a fellow musician in NZ🌿 ... it's funky! 😎  great "disjointed" vibe, yet tight 🙃
