Today I want to dive into possibly my favourite "family" of ships - the Valkyrie and Asgard dropships and the Paladin gunship make an excellent team for getting your crew to the ground and providing close fire support.

Control surfaces / actual atmo flight would make ground vehicles and dedicated VTOL ships much more relevant. If a Hornet had to do actual straffing runs instead of just nose down hovering, and a Cap ship really struggled in atmosphere then things would change a lot. Hopefully we see that one day.

Starlancer TAC for sure. Air to ground gun support, Fury, unload a vehicle, jump seats and med beds. Everything you need in one ship. Go bigger? Take the Ironclad Assault or Liberator depending on Air Support or Ground Support being your primary focus.

The Valk was my first favorite ship. My bunker runner. I threw a Nursa in the back and the sky is the limit!

i do love my paladin with a friend.

The Valkyrie was my first love, honestly the reason I got into SC in the first place. Like you said, she’s showing her age and it’s hard to justify using her over the Asgard with its newer bells and whistles.

She’ll be the daily again once the gold pass comes.

Just wait until the Legionnaire shows up as the little brother in this family.

At last someone who gets it. To this day there are still weirdos who want the Valk to basically do the job of the Asgard and Paladin cause they want 1 ship that does everything good. These ships are made to work together.

I bought Valkyrie in game. Perfect ship for solo player like me, even if it's dropship. Can fight, can transport Nursa and tons of loot. Everything I want right now. Maybe I would wish for gold standard. Now Valkyrie don't have even engineering terminal.

Correction to shields: It has four shields providing their health but two shields providing regen (Intended by CIG)

Now I can't afford the rights to "Fortunate Son", but you are welcome to hum it to yourself. 🤣🤣
I bought the Paladin during it's original announcement sale, and I love it.

Great video! I've had the Valk and haven't played with the Paladin. I do have an Asgard and absolutely love it. It's a top 3 ship. It's like having a Cutlass Black on steroids.
Also, they really need to get the pricing squared away. Older ships that are more expensive (in game and IRL) than newer ships with more features is not great.

You want to change your life? Switch to full ballistics on the paladins with revenants and AD5Bs. Melts absolutely everything. I also swapped missile racks for 48 size 1 missiles.

On a smaller scale, Cutty Black, Shiv, and C1 are kinda the starter do everything ships.
Feels like Asgard, Corsair, Hermes, and others are what you grow into.
Eventually living in an Kraken full time, or like ship.

The Asgard is amazing as a middle sized daily driver.
The Paladin is the best dedicated gunship if you often play with at least 1 more friend.
The Valkyrie, tough, is a SQ42 asset lost in the PU where it is completely useless.

I do love the Anvil Trinity but Hercules A2 and M2 offer so much more.
I'm keeping Anvil Trinity though and I got Hercules A2.

The only thing I dislike of he trio is the naming. From a design standpoint, if they were made from the same basis I'd have a naming base too. Two already have a norse name, so would have gone for a third norse name in stead of Paladin. Most equivalent in norse gods myths that fits 'paladin' would be Tyr. But I'd have considered if it was going to be three realms: Asgard, Midgard (Valkyrie) and Helheim (Paladin).
