That was Rev James Cleveland choir director, piano player, and choir. For those who aren’t familiar with the choir, choir director and piano player, YouTube “Rev James Cleveland Can’t nobody do me like Jesus” you will see the choir director with a perm and red glasses along with the piano player and members of his choir

***Fun Fact John P Kee wrote “Jesus is mine” along with “I made it”

No other movie had so many music kegends as The Blues Brothers. Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Ray Charles, John Lee Hooker, Matt Murphy, (Howling Wolfs guitarist) Steve Cropper and more. Truly a collection of giants.

We skipped class to see this in the theatre when it was released in 1980, when movies were forbidden at the evangelical Baptist college we went to. As musicians, the film completely knocked our socks off. Real musicians being musicians instead of actors acting like musicians. To this day one of the greatest music films of all time. RIP John Belushi, James Brown, John Candy, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Duck Dunn, Steve Cropper, Matt Murphy, Aretha Franklin, Carrie Fisher, Artie Johnson... such a sad long list that gets longer every year...

I saw this film at the end of the 80s, living in Hungary behind the iron wall in the so called eastern block. I did not know anything about these actors and musicians, blues or black community but as I watched this movie uncountable times I learned a lot about them! Oh how much I love this! ❤️

You know, there is power in ( this ) music for real.
I still remember this from its release. Went to church as a boy grew up loving this music and it brings tears of joy now to see how music brings people together through all genres.
What a nostalgic memory here.
James was fire, Chaka Khan as well !
