If you haven't played this, I think you'll be quite surprised! Quite a fresh concept that I hope gets expanded :) Not sponsored btw, just a small indie game that's been on my play list for a while
Never thought about this in Souls games, but it's kinda terrifying from the BOSS perspective. There is this dude you always beat and you are confident you can always beat, but he just comes back every time, every time stronger and getting closer to defeating in until you are not sure if you can win anymore.
Honestly, I feel that after the bonding over many fights ending, the hero should spare the queen and have her set on a journey beyond the the throne room. Something like " Leave and return when you are ready to reclaim your throne". Killing her feels almost sad.
They missed a real opportunity for a different ending. One where you walk out the door, and the next time the hero shows up, realizes you took his advise to go view the world.
Honestly, a story about a dark queen finally getting off her throne and seeing the world for the first time would be a neat idea. She would have an introspective journey about how much time she wasted being the everlasting overlord and why going out into the world is so important.
19:05 it’s cool to see some of the darksouls themes from a different perspective, it always felt like the games wanted you to see outside of your role but it can also sometimes get lost among the world.
