I saw this with friends through totally legit means and the trailers did NOT prepare us for all the death and body horror 😂

This is a rare instance in a modern Disney/Pixar movie where the villain actually dies btw.

I wasn't prepared for the beaver crying noises I sobbed in the theater

The fact the most "absurd" concept in the movie is the idea of a politician not being a terrible person, it's kinda sad

Loving the fact the point that makes Dazz remember this is a fictional movie is that the politician ends up being a good person by the end

I love how the third act of this movie is just batshit insane that it’s actually funny. If I watched it as a kid I would’ve probably be scared of it.

Oh so THAT'S where the Lizard comes from

I love how the politician taking accountability and turning out to be a good guy is what made it feel "unrealistic" and not the seagulls carrying a great white shark! but ngl, relatable

The only thing that could've made this movie better is if during the scene where the birds are carrying Diane, they have to put her head back in the water every couple of seconds so that she can breathe.

Pixar really nailed it with their 30th feature film

The whole doppelganger thing gives Bill Cipher vibes slightly

28:21 It also makes perfect sense for Mabel to kill the queen like she did: her character grew up as a human, so she has the instinct to swat/squish a bug that gets all up in her face, while all animals don’t (which adds to their shock)

The best way to describe Hoppers is: It's very much a Daniel Chong experience. It's not the best film or tv series ever, but it's more concerned with doing its own thing and doing it well. I remember We Bare Bears not for its plot or narrative, but for its grounded comedy and writing, given what that show was. Same with Hoppers. It was hilarious when it needed to be, witty when it needed to be, serious when it needed to be, disturbing when it needed to be, and all of that was timed and sorted brilliantly over the movie. And the ending wasn't trying to offer any groundbreaking solutions. Again, I don't think that's the kind of storytelling Daniel Chong does. But I do think vilifying either the environmentalist side or the corporate side would've been a mistake because you'd be alienating, in theory, half your audience. A meet-in-the-middle resolution is probably the only way this movie could end while offering a realistic conclusion that doesn't cater to one singular frame of mind.

While I do agree that some of the messages can’t be applied to reality due to the ridiculous nature of their execution, Jerry’s decision to ultimately hear Mabel out, imo, is entirely understandable. If anything, it shows that people with power can change for better if they are willing to. And looking purely through the lense of everything Jerry has witnessed in response to his pushing of the highway project, I think him ultimately deciding to leave the environment alone and respect Mabel’s wishes is reasonable.

Heck, he still doesn’t even cancel the highway. He just reroutes it. So he doesn’t COMPLETELY go back on motives.

This movie is the most laughs I’ve gotten from Disney or Pixar in a long while

I think the meet in the middle with a politician does make a little bit more sense in this context since he's not like a senator but the mayor of a medium-sized City. I'm sure we still have plenty of middle and lower politicians that are reasonable people

I'm glad you pointed out how having Jerry be the villain the whole time wouldn't have worked since lots of people are saying the movie didn't need Titus

I was astonished when I learned that Meryl Streep voiced the butterfly. Then again, she basically doesn't have a type, she can basically play ANY character!

42:12  "it's a dam good mid" I hope this was an intentional beaver joke XD

I can see whoever in charge making this movie had an absolute blast. The most fun I had for a while
