You have to remember most of these video's are from local British rally's and most of those drivers are amateurs doing rally as their hobby in the weekends. only of few shots of WRC(World Rally Championship) professionals in there.

In Rallying "mess ups" happen all the time. its the ones who make the least mistakes that win.

The sound of a rally car driving in the forest is always something special...  😀👍

Timestamp: 7.43. The move is called a scandinavian flick. Hard turn to the "wrong" side of the corner. This is to shift the weight balance of the car. Then hard pull on handbrake and turn it into the right side of the corner.

Pretty much any on-board rally video would be a good watch 👍

You need to see an on-board video of what the drivers are doing and the stream of verbal information they get from the navigator. It's an entirely different language.

As others have suggested, you might want to check out Colin McRae.

The McRae name is one of the most revered in rallying.  Jimmy McRae started it off as a five-time British rallying champion.  His sons Colin and Alister followed in his footsteps, with Colin winning the British crown twice and Alister once.

Colin became one of the most popular drivers of all time because of his all out, never say die approach.  His slogan became famous:  "When in doubt, flat out!"  In 1995, he became the first British driver and the youngest ever to win the World Championship.  Tragically, he died in 2007, along with his son and two family friends, when the helicopter he was piloting crashed.

Colin's daughter Hollie has become a motorsports journalist, while Alister's son Max is currently working his way up the driver ranks.

Yep, the British Rally used to pass our farm. Some during the day but often at night.

The part with the GMF sign / blue MK2 ford escort is the (wyedean rally in the forest of dean Gloucestershire) held in my home town one of the toughest stage rallies because of how rough the tracks are, especially when Andy Burton used to come here in the Peugeot 306 cosworth had a 2.5L V6 with around 400+ bhp and upto 11,000 rpm he built the car at his farm, he's very well known and he kept up to and beat many WRC cars also built the Alfa Ferrari definitely worth a search plenty on YouTube of him, still remember my dad saying don't blink as you'll miss him could hear him coming for a while but in a flash he was gone 😎👍

You mentioned being freaked out by the night driving.  One of the things you might notice is the front brake discs glowing orange because they're so hot!  You can't see it in the daytime, but at night it's an amazing sight.

Below you have 3 suggestions of on-boards, where you also hear the co-driver calling the road ahead to the driver:

Ari Vatanen/Terry Harryman - 1983 Manx International Rally | Opel Manta 400 GrB RWD
A fast, twisty stage. As the title alludes to, it's probably the closest moment Ari ever had that didn't end off the road... Or worse.

Colin McRae/Nicky Grist - 2001 Rally of Great Britain (RAC Rally) St Gwynneth Stage | Ford Focus WRC
A stage where McRae was pushing HARD to try to pull furhter ahead of the compeititors... That fact he didn't crash on this stage is still mind-boggling.

Juha Kankkunen/Nicky Grist - 1993 RAC Rally Chatsworth Stage | Toyota Celica Turbo 4WD Gr.A
Traditionally an all gravel rally, the weather that year said the drivers needed further challanges... They had Gravel tires only.

Me está enganchando ver como este profano se aficiona.

In Rally Driving, turns are often done by using the hand brake.  A friend of mine who did some junior rally driving actually pulled off a hand brake turn on his DRIVING TEST, in order to avoid an accident when someone pulled out right in front of him, leaving him no option but to turn into the road the other car came out from....and he actually PASSED the test!! 👍😉

DUDE, you NEED to watch the Ken Block video "
Ken Block’s All-GoPro Cossie V2 Raw Onboard Footage: Irish Tarmac Rally Madness, Stage 13: Knockalla"! Legendary rally driver but sadly have passed away.

There is no doubt in my mind that rally drivers are the best drivers in the world. Day, night, asphalt, dirt, gravel, snow or ice in any weather whatever you throw at them they drive it at unreal speeds. Yes there are crashes, even world champions have them how could there not be with some of the routes they have to try and master. You have seen a hell of a lot of Ford Escorts in the video, mainly Mk2. You would see every car in the rally, they set off at 1-3 minute intervals depending on the class of the rally car.

I love Subaru too mate. I love the sound they make. I could listen to it all day 😂.

Nothing beats an Audi Quttro driving past you one meter next to you!

I work on an industrial estate in Ollerton and Colin McRae had some sort of garage there. You would often hear him drive a car past the factory perhaps testing it.

Love the Mk1 Ford Escort at 11:00

Please watch some onboard POV video but especially one where they also have comms and explain something, not just a compilation. Think that would be really interesting for you. Personally I like Gravel Co just to mention a channel.

For some context on how they drive like that.
First the co drivers drive the stage in a street car when it's not closed off yet and note down pretty much all corners and dangers into a booklet.

Then, depending on the event the drivers and their co drivers are allowed to drive the track two times, one time relatively slowly talking through all the corners, the conditions and everything and one faster practice run where they test out the limits of the stage.

At that point the rally driver can pretty much drive almost blindly with the co driver reading the notes to them. A good co driver is usually a requirement to compete in rally since they do all the preparation and allow the driver to give it their best without running into unexpected problems
