You can also sacrifice a cheap roll of film to cut that first taped  "waste section" you are using paper for and might be more sturdy and reusable. Still a great solution.

holding the TLR sideways is easy with sport finder that is built into the standard viewfinder on the C220. Just compose vertically,flip up sportfinder, turn sideways, hold to eye, viewing subject directly, shoot.

Old video I know, but I have seen people just take out the 35mm film out of the camera (in a dark bag) and then hand spool it by twisting on the 120 adapters, no need for a 35mm camera.

Use two 135 film cartridges, one on each side, so you don't need a dark bag. But the last frame will be wasted.
