Just commenting to clear everyone's misconceptions that I didn't watch the Limit cut episode and missed a scene. I promise y'all I did not miss anything D,,,x   I didn't watch it on stream but a friend sent me afterward in DMs to let me know, so I did watch it in my own time before playing this game!
A single scene like that does nooooooot help my level of confusion at all, I just need to rewatch some cutscenes in my own time because it feels like I got brain blasted all at once and it's not really a digestible format for my brain to comprehend things! Hence my harsher reaction to not understanding the ending too well.  It's a lot at once and requires time for me to sit on all the information!
I'll get there over time just like I did with comprehending the past games!  <3

RIP Kairis voice actress Hayden Panettiere.

Most of this confusion is because Crystal watched a version of the ending of Re:Mind that didn't have the cutscene after the data battles, just the Yozora fight. That cutscene had the Fairy Godmother show up and a Re:Minder (heh) that Kairi has been asleep for a year. In her defence though, it's weird this game didn't start with that reminder as a set up. It just kinda assumes you knew that...

EDIT: So turns out this is wrong. She watched that scene off stream, but was too overwhelmed by all the new info to remember it.

It frustrates me to no end that Kairi's symbolic battle against her inner demons and feelings of helplessness (in the form of the man who forcibly changed her life time and time again) gets stolen by Sora.

Not sure if it was explained by chat, but up until the scene where Kairi talks to Ansem, Even, and Ienzo, she is actually asleep and the entire game is her searching through her memories. The Final World and the Xehanorts she sees there are her memories/heart. The one she gets teleported to with Riku and Fairy Godmother is the ACTUAL Final World, she's awake again. She asked the Radient Garden team to put her to sleep after KH3 to search for clues about Sora in her own heart.

Fairy Godmother's magic is connected to dreams - dreams are held within sleep, and (per Chirithy) "the edges of sleep & death touch" and the Final World exists on said edges. Therefore, by KH logic, Fairy Godmother's magic can (through the connection of Riku's and the nameless star's dreams) bring them there.

I really like Melody of Memory, but I do wish they would've done something other than making it largely a recap game(although I do like that it's narrated instead of just retreading the same thing without explanation).

If they spread out the new story bits a little more, and maybe added in a few more random bits(instead of recaps just showing what other characters are doing), it'd be even better.

Also, yeah, it cost a bit too much for what it is.

It's crazy how if you miss one scene from remind you have no clue whats happening this whole game lol. They should have just tossed that scene at the beginning of this game like they did with the 0.2 secret ending at the beginning of 3

I love this game but I don't think I've ever been more blue balled than seeing Kairi summon Sora's keyblade, thinking she got to inherit it, only for her to turn into Sora and he beats Xehanort for her. It is very funny though that the Fairy Godmother is so busted that she can casually teleport to the Kingdom Hearts version of Heaven whenever she wants.

Young xehanort said in kh3 that while he have to leave his body behind to time travel, merlin can just conjure the door to the past in kh2
Fairy godmother fulfill dreams so she can go to realms related to dreams plus final world because death is close to sleep (chirithy said that last part in kh3)
Maleficent has power over sleep so she can awaken terra's darkness and riku's keyblade potential in kh1, her power isn't limited to physical sleep
