Marina remembers being taken when she was around four years old before eventually finding herself completely alone in the rainforest. Frightened, hungry and with nobody coming to find her, she began observing the monkeys around her — learning where they found food, how they reacted to danger and the different sounds they used to communicate.
Over time, Marina says the animals became the closest thing she had to a family. She learned to climb trees, find water, identify food and survive in an environment completely removed from the human world.
