The D'Addario EJ33 nylon strings have ball ends.

You might try a “fusion” guitar. I just bought a Cordoba Fusion 5, it has a narrower nut width, a 16 inch radiused neck, a cut away for access to the higher frets and yet it uses high tension nylon strings. It has a full bodied sound due to Spanish style fan bracing. This type of guitar may well be what you are looking for.

Well done! I'm originally from the Philippines and I just purchased a pre-owned Taylor 712ce v-class 12 fret acoustic guitar here in the UK with a very high (6mm) action. Since I already have a Taylor 714ce WSB v-class 14 fret acoustic guitar, I decided to take the 12 fret guitar to a local guitar shop and I requested to install ball-end nylon strings. There was a bit of hesitation from the luthier and I said that I just wanted to see the performance of a v-class acoustic guitar after the conversion. Seeing your blog on an x-braced acoustic guitar is a proof that my experiment might probably work. The luthier will make an adjustment with the installed nut and I'm already excited to see the result soon. Thank you.

just a piece of advice change the saddle and bridge first it's not that hard and then your GS mini will sound great. all in all a good video.

Yes, and nylon strings sound real good on a steel string guitar. But don’t put steel strings on a classical guitar. It may pull the neck and put a bow in the neck of a classical guitar. I’ve never put steel strings on a classical guitar before, but I’ve heard it will bow the neck of a classical nylon stream guitar. Kind of fun to experience with guitars once in a while just just don’t destroy them ha ha have a good evening👍😁🎸🎼🎵🎶🎸❤️☮️

Thanks for this video. Have you had to adjust the truss rod again since putting the nylons on it? Would imagine the neck would relax quite a lot with really low tension.

I have my Grandfathers original 1937 Gibson L-00, which by nature has an absurdly high action. I put a set of ball end nylons on it and man, its like a whole different guitar. It sounds warm and full, and i highly recommend trying it, especially  if you have a naturally high action. The nut gaps werent an issue surprisingly,  which could be a fluke, but its like 89 years old, so who knows. Plus i had no intention to modify any part of the guitar.

Both steel and nylon strings stretch. Steel strings are much more resistant to stretch, so the issue has been confused. You can put nylon strings on a steel guitar safely. You cannot put steel strings on a guitar designed for nylon strings. Steel strings on a guitar designed for nylon strings will definitely warp the neck. It is probably not built as strongly as an acoustic guitar designed for steel strings.

I love my gs mini, can you recommend a good nylon string guitar as such, price range ~ 500 ?

I bought a Taylor Mini acoustic only. Didnt anticipate using an amp at home. Then I bought a used 714ce. Got an amp and really like the sound. I also have a garage sale Yamaha nylon that is really terrible to play compared to the two Taylors. You just showed my how to justify buying another Mini with the electronics installed and still get a decent playing nylon. Thanks.
