I got mine for Christmas 24. £160 new and I love it

Great reel best they have ever made out of the box. Always leave mine drying for days on the drainer after use. Still like new after years.

Hooked sharks, stingrays, Striped bass, Bluefish, cobia! It's a beast for a surf reel.
I love it

I landed a 6ft sturgeon on my penn squall cs. So pretty sure the fathoms can. But all of my assumed 3 digit sturgeon got away. It was huge and it just spooled me out or snag me so no chance of landing it and line just gave at some point.

Blue F15 for me 😉👍

I just lost a diawa sealine 30 to not washing it off when I got home. But the good news is I just ordered a penn fathom castpro 😂

I’ve had tope, smooth hounds to 20lb stingray to 70lb in Ireland and the casting special handles them all

Not even this reel would make me cast beyond 20 yards 😭

Cracking reel earl. Still can't believe were they put the mag though. All the best from G.Y

The Ratchet is plastic and mines failed twice the only thing that lets it down.

The casting specials suffer the same as the mag2, 3 and 4s...spool rubbing against the cage on the mag side over time, boils down to spindle support in the side plate.. If the spindle was supported like the original Penn 525s then spool rubbing wouldn't be a issue... Getting a decent 525 usa and giving it a total overhaul will come in less then a new CS and and you know you will have a good bomb proof reel.

Works great for what it is....I have both casting special and the fathom2 15sd.....they're both very smooth casting reels...
Haven't come across any issues for the last 4years...I've cleaned them after each use...
👍😎🤙

I just bought one today, when its engaged there is slop in the gearing. I saw a video saying some of these were defective?

@BlessedBennettt 6 months ago

What rod would you recommend pairing it with?

Nice reel, but corrosion is the bad part. Best reel without doubt Diawa BG30

Nice reel, but the mag knob sits in the wrong place.
Original Fathom 15 and 12's magged by Dean Macey are a better bet.

Hey there, since my last comment...I have acquired a super-tune bearing kit for the Fathom2 15sd.. it's now faster than a stock casting-special ...Big difference 🤙😎👍
