To be fair most non Japanese cars of the same age as the Jazz and Swift are on the scrap heap

As you said, controversial. I am a trader who sells Hondas only and I have sold many Mk1 Jazz’s and I can say all have been great.   I mean I am picky in what I sell but I just think any car can have issues if they are not looked after. The ones with whiny gearboxes and corrosion are abused ones, find one that’s got decent service history and limited Mot advisories and I find them to be great. I think corrosion is a bit mean to say as any car around the age of a MK1 Jazz will have quite bad rust if used particularly during winter. I am seeing 2011 Polos with corroded sills. If owners just clean out the arches and hose the underside now and then, it will be fine as all the gunk building up is the culprit for corrosion, just needs cleaning out and maintained. I will still recommend a Mk1 Jazz; mechanically  brilliant and a well looked after one will offer great service. They are still very popular in the second hand market. People still want them and request them. Just my opinion on things.

Still driving a 22 year old jazz! No rust at all!

Had a couple of cheapie jazzs ..both had gearbox whine,, but still plod on ..never broke.

Honda Jazz is a fantastic car, input shaft bearing can be noisy but they say it won't fail. Water ingress can be a problem at the rear but it's usually a simply fix with some sealant. Rust is a problem that affects lots of cars. We had 2 Jazz's overall and both were kept for well beyond the ages mentioned. The last one was a 2006, owned for 9 years, that was sold last year - it's now 20 years old and I see it went through the MOT last week. I've got videos on my channel for all of the problems encountered over that time span.

My sister owns, since new, a Yaris from 2007 and its almost reaching 400.000 kms and 0 issues but i guess the portuguese weather helps.

The Jazz is the go too car for pensioners here in Devon, the car usually outlasts the owners.

My brother had an RX8 for nearly 20 years and loved it. Eventually it was corrosion that would have cost more than the car was worth to repair which put paid to it. It is, however, an enthusiasts car and does need constant oil checks etc to maintain the engine. It is also very heavy on fuel use. One for an RX8 loving petrol head. Not a casual user who just wants to drive a flashy looking car.

The jazz or fit is one of the most reliable cars ever built hands down...i have a 2007 runs like a top. You just got one that was owned by a crappy manual driver. Mine has 325k on it running fabulous

I remember a short conversation with a lady outside a suzuki dealer, she said she's never had a car that fogs up so much, it drank fuel in her opinion, even with the small engine size and she was there today because it was making worrying engine noises. I see plenty buzzing around the local area, so maybe she just got unlucky?

At least you didn't say the Mazda petrol skyactive like the other dude 😀

As a trader i discovered Scottish registered cars had severe corossion due to the amount of salt they use on their roads throughout winter. It also depends on where these cars are maunufactured, some countries simply dont insulate the underside.

I’ve done 40k miles on a 2.2 diesel Avensis in the last 30 months and it’s been great, never had a single problem with it. However, I do change the oil every 5000 miles which might have something to do with it. Love your videos btw, agree about the rest of them.

Gold dust mate. Specific detail that is often lacking elsewhere

These are the videos we want to see

The information you pass onto us is priceless. More please.... I have a good knowledge of cars covering the mechanicals, bodywork ans underside corrosion but i dont have your knowledge on every model issues. When im looking to purchase a car i get extremely stressed of missing a problem which has happened but especially missing any underside corrosion as its easily missed when its not on a lift. Your experiance is worth its weight in gold and would like to hear lots more about other makes and models. Thanks for all you do and all the great content.

I had a 2002 Honda Jazz estate had it for 19 years not a patch of rust on it, Mind you I am  in Japan and we don't salt the road's .. it looked brand new underneath

Really interesting

Is there anything we  can buy that dosen't rust or fail to restart after getting my pint of milk,  or shall i stick to a Bike !!  😂😂😂😂😂😂
