In this Troy: Director's Cut reaction, historical movie reaction, and review, Jackie & Paige experience Wolfgang Petersen's (The Perfect Storm, Air Force One) sweeping adaptation inspired by Homer's Iliad. The film stars Brad Pitt as Achilles (Fight Club, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Eric Bana as Hector (Munich, Hulk), Orlando Bloom as Paris (The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean), Diane Kruger as Helen (Inglourious Basterds, National Treasure), Sean Bean as Odysseus (The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones), Brian Cox as Agamemnon (Succession, Braveheart), Peter O'Toole as King Priam (Lawrence of Arabia, The Lion in Winter), Brendan Gleeson as Menelaus (The Banshees of Inisherin, Harry Potter), and Rose Byrne as Briseis (Bridesmaids, X-Men: First Class).
Featuring unforgettable moments like the opening duel with Boagrius, the storming of Troy's beaches, the breathtaking Achilles vs. Hector battle, the emotional meeting between Achilles and King Priam, Paris' fateful choices, and the legendary Trojan Horse finale, Troy: Director's Cut expands on the theatrical release with additional character moments and extended battle sequences. As excitement continues to build for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, Jackie & Paige revisit the mythic world that introduced audiences to many of Greek mythology's greatest heroes and helped pave the way for Odysseus' legendary journey home.

All because Paris needed another man's wife. Paris is solely responsible; and he gets to just walk away..

One does not simply watch a Sean Bean movie and expect him to live through it.

Achilles is such a good character study. Obviously you may not agree with all his decisions, but neither does Achilles himself at the end of the movie. He only cared about glory, until he started to question everything he stood for, but then he was enraged by his cousin dying and overreacted, then felt remorseful and let Hector and Briseus go, but then decided to make sure Briseus escaped the city safely, and died satisfied after that. he knew going into Troy would be when he died, but knew if he didnt, briseus would suffer a terrible fate, and he was right.

My spouse and I still randomly scream “HECTOR!” at each other.

Achilles. 3000 years and everyone gives glory to his warrior spirit. So much that his very name has become part of the vocabulary. And in 10, 000 years his name will still be spoken off if we are still around.

Has its faults, but I like how Troy holds true to the essence of Greek Tragedies. Everyone’s downfall is tied to their hubris. Also love how Sean Bean is the one to live through the film XD

Achilles didn't kill the priests, though his troops did.

The fact yall hate Achilles over Paris and Helen is crazy. Paris singlehandedly got his family killed, his country invaded, and multiple people in his country killed over a woman he barely knew. Paris was a coward who not only stole a man's wife, whom he knew would want her back, but then tried to create a challenge that he ended up running from, and his brother had to save him.

@cypfer8851 2 months ago

Agamemnom literally wanted ANY and I mean ANY excuse to invade Troy, his brother gave him one even if it was a stupid reason.

Him yelling out and challenging Hector still gives me chills man

I love the poetic irony - how Achillies offends Apollos statue and than he gets killed by someone with Bo and Arrow. Its like Apollo responded to Achillies taunt "huh"

Hector represents, even today, all the qualities of a good leader and a real man. Brave, fair, considerate, capable... for me is the true real hero of the Iliad.

Aeneas leads a group of refugees out of Troy, the descendants of whom later found the city of Rome

@davbrown1973 2 months ago

When he said the "This war will never be forgotten" it wasn't about the fact that it was started over a woman. He meant the scale of it being the greatest powers of the time going to war which is what Agamemnon wanted. I think anyway. haha
