I kept thinking, "I'll wonder if he'll mention this nuanced strategic issue", and then you immediately did.
What could I even add? Very little. You mention shield hacking on Rock B to get one shot, but you can get two shots with the right timing -- though it needs level 2 hacking and level 1 weapons training.
I agree with you about selling Lockdown Bomb for earlier shields, but keeping Stun Bomb. You could actually get shields-4 immediately by selling both bombs; selling Lockdown + Pheromones gives you 47 scrap. The reason I keep Stun Bomb is not so much Zoltan Shields (though it helps), but more because it gives you so much more boarding control in general. Keeping both bombs gives even more boarding control and allows more aggressive boarding sometimes -- due to the very low chance of a double pilotless dodge, under 1 in 1,000 -- but they still mostly overlap in utility and I'd rather be one fight away from shields-4 than two or three fights.
I'm not sure how Farb manages to play this ship when he gets a first-jump store. He cannot ever sell the Stun Bomb, because Farb. But he must sell the Stun Bomb, because 69 scrap.
Thanks for the awesome content!
I just beat the flagship for the first time after 20 hours of playtime using what I learned from your vids.
Funnily enough I got the Rebel stronghold secret second flagship event and beat it, unlocking the fed cruiser, but since I was the Engi A I would've unlocked it regardless.
I visited 4 stores in the first two sectors and even with a couple crew kills I didn't find a single weapon until the third sector. Ended up winning with two flak 1's and a heavy laser 1.
