Excalibur was given to him by The lady in the lake, the sword he pulled from the stone just made him king but that sword broke in battle

There are two ways the Medusa’s story goes; the common one is that Athena was furious and punished Medusa, the other is that Athena changed Medusa to protect her from any more SA attacks; either one makes sense

The legend of king Arthur is significantly older than the Italian guy

I think the legend of Arthur pulling the sword was also derived from the story of Theseus in Greek mythology where King Aegeus hid a sword and sandals under a heavy rock and said when Theseus was old enough to lift away the rock then he would be ready to use the sword and sandals. I haven't read any comparisons, but I know I can't be the only one who's noticed the similarities.

The Sword in the Stone of Arthurian legend is a metaphor for a Smith, a skill that came with great power as a Smith literally pulls a sword from stone as he constructs it.

King Arthur's sword was given back to the lady of the lake so it wouldn't bin a stone

The legend of King Arthur is set in the late 5th to early 6th century, yet the first written accounts (Historia Brittonum) date to roughly the 9th century, with the popular, developed tales arriving in the 12th century. This means the Arthurian tradition developed and became widely known roughly 6 to 7 centuries after the period it claims to represent.
